I wanted a stacking cup holder for these stacking cups I made for our RV. (After I knocked one off the stack & broke it, so I had to remake one cup.)

Found a rack at Goodwill, but my cups didn’t sit straight so we thought about how we could retro-fit it to work and this is the final result.

We added a wood base, I painted it and added non-skid bumpers on the bottom. Now all the cups nest below the top wire around the top and sit straight.

Do you know that moment when you find out your website isn’t loading properly?

Yesterday was that moment. I also realized I still had links to our discontinued Airbnb listing. I’ve resolved the problem and edited pages that link to the discontinued Airbnb listing. (I hope I found them all!)

We acquired this nostalgic, avocado green rotary dial phone from a 1948 home we bought in 1999. We moved my mother in with us after 2020. She came with a lot of small, family memorabilia, including this little glass ashtray I intentionally placed next to the phone.

Why place the ashtray there?

Because I remember my grandmother placed this little ashtray next to the phone. I remember seeing (and smelling) cigarette butts she smashed out in it while talking on the phone. I also remember seeing a burning cigarette rested in this ashtray.

My grandmother was a 1920’s flapper in Chicago. She was a naturalized immigrant from Czechoslovakia. She was bilingual. She smoked since I remember. She developed emphazema and died on my daughter’s 2nd birthday, from lung cancer that went into her brain. She lived a full life during her time, pursuing the American Dream.
