The South Dakota Chapter of the North American Indian Women’s Association (NAIWA) held a special honoring on Saturday - October 18th, 2025 at the Cultural Center in Eagle Butte, SD recognizing five women whose leadership, service, and dedication have profoundly impacted their communities and Indian Country as a whole.

The 2025 NAIWA SD Chapter Women of the Year honorees — Dr. Madonna Thunder Hawk, Benita Clark, Dr. Karla Abbott, Ethleen Iron Cloud–Two Dogs, and Warlene Yellow Cloud — were each recognized for a lifetime of contributions to education, activism, health, cultural restoration, and community well-being.

Founded in 1970, NAIWA is one of the first national organizations dedicated to empowering Native women, promoting education, and preserving cultural values. The South Dakota Chapter continues that mission by honoring those whose lives embody courage, compassion, and commitment to Native people.

The event reflected the heart of NAIWA’s purpose, to honor the wisdom of Native women whose contributions strengthen their Nations and inspire the generations to come.

The NAIWA SD Chapter would like to offer our gratitude to the women and the community for making this honoring a success!

What a way to end the regular season for your Dupree Tigers!! Picking up a win in their final game of the season against a fellow Cheyenne River team, the Timberlake Panthers.

Now for the Tigers the entire team had it clicking on the offensive end jumping out to a double digit lead in the first half!!!🔥🔥
When it comes to individual play we seen a big game for #3 Fletcher Birkeland!!! Who we here at KIPI also picked to be the final POTG for the season!! 😤

A quick update: the Dupree Tigers will be going into the post-season on a FIVE game winning streak!! Also securing the ninth seed!
