A blessing way is a sacred pre-birth ceremony that has traditionally been performed by Navajo people, and celebrates a woman's rite of passage into motherhood.
A Blessingway is a beautiful way to wrap an expecting mother in love and support. This ceremony brings women together and celebrates the power of our bodies and how they grow and sustain life, both inside and outside of the womb!
In a Blessing Way, women come together and often bring a bead that has significant importance to them. All the beads are strung together. During labor she keeps them close to remind her of all of the love and support she has. She is also shown physical love, often being pampered with a massage or hair braiding. This ceremony is similar to the tradition of a Baby Shower, but digs deeper and honors the transformative journey a woman (And all of the women before her) go through in the process of Pregnancy, Birth and Motherhood.
