Is anyone surprised our municipal government is using the same corrupt practices now that they're in office as they used to get elected?

Team Easley has seemingly been rewriting the narrative regarding the list of individuals whose loans were forgiven by the city.

When the scandal first broke, Team Easley supporters hailed Davidson as valiant whistle-blower, claiming she should be lauded for her actions rather than condemned. The accusation was that then-Mayor Butch Womack had made backroom deals to clear the debts of his own supporters. However, the below clearly says "the committee" approved the Loan Forgiveness for disadvantaged residents.

So why does the Team Easley story differ from the official record?

Unfortunately, we aren't all-knowing, and have to use our best judgements when discerning people's intentions. Since we love to ask questions, we've got a few to mull over. Such as...

Did Womack merely follow protocol after the committee's approval, or is more evidence waiting to be uncovered?

Did Team Easley willfully deceive the voting public?

And what's the best path forward?

Obviously, our city needs to heal from the damage the last few months has caused. However, complete healing isn't possible without excising the root of the corruption. We won't back down in our fight to reunite the people of Easley.

Please help spread the word about this event!

What better way to celebrate the significance of Christmas than by providing the gift of life?

We have the opportunity to band together to prove what unity and community truly mean. Let's help make this event a huge success and support all those who continuously give us the gift of their service, regardless of the Season.

*December 19th, 2023 6pm-8:30pm*
Please see the map below to help you navigate where to park and enter The Market at the Mill.

๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš’Law Enforcement and first responders, please see the designated areas to park.๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš“
We plan to have people in place to assist with parking. If you are a law enforcement agency sending a designated patrol car to enter the venue, please report to the Pickens PD logo on the map between 4:30-5pm, where someone will show you how to enter the venue. Feel free to send multiple law enforcement vehicles from your agency, the remaining will be parked in front of the Market at the Mill and can arrive anytime before 6pm.

We hope to see Pickens and the surrounding communities show up for this great benefit concert, silent auction, and blood drive, all benefiting Cpl. Lucas Watts and his family. Donations at the door, silent auction inside, and blood connection will have multiple areas to donate blood. The blood connection will be donating $50 per donor to the Watts Family.

โ—พ๏ธThe Concert location inside the Market at the Mill has limited seats. We recommend you bring a portable folding chair. There is plenty of space to set up a chair in the concert area.

After a short hiatus, we're back. Our town is banding together for the holidays, and we've had some exciting Christmas moments. The beautiful tree lighting, a decorated downtown, and a Christmas parade have kept us all busy.

But business marches on for the city government despite the festive cheer. This Monday's City Council meeting saw the council members bidding their best wishes and holiday greetings. But of course, with the undercurrent of scandal looming over both the past and incoming elected officials, there was a definite strain of tension in the room.

If you weren't in attendance Monday, we recommend checking out the city's meeting below. As always, we welcome the open discussion.

This is a statement sent to us after our original post last week, from Mayor Butch Womack requesting answers from the various campaigns.

Still no news from Talbert and "Team Easley."

Do you think that will matter at this point, if they did issue a statement? Weigh in with your thoughts below. We have our opinions, but we're eager to see yours!

We have received an official statement from Mayor Womack, written on 11/19. We will be posting that momentarily, for everyone following the runoff race.

NOVEMBER 21, 2023: DON'T forget to get out and vote today! Please use caution, as it appears we'll have steady rain through the rest of the day, with a likelihood for Thunderstorms beginning around 6pm (for those who need to plan the best time to head to the polls). Remember, regardless of your candidate choice, you need to seize this opportunity, during this highly contested runoff, to let your voice be heard.

**Shout out to the Weather Channel for bringing us today's forecast**

The Sound of Silence: It's been notably quiet from the Talbert campaign on the Davidson Drama. While we know we'll get those who dismiss us as biased for not being "Pro Lisa," we would like to remind everyone of the serious implications that could result from tomorrow's election.

This is one of those moments in life where you have to take a hard look in the mirror. When you vote tomorrow (and PLEASE remember to do so!), you're voting for the future of our city. Not only has this election seemed to tear apart our community, but it also has the power to greatly impact the future. Davidson's alleged attempts to gain more power resulted in breaches of privacy of ordinary citizens. Those who argue that the information is public knowledge are conveniently not realizing that they wouldn't know WHO to Google Search or what name to fill out on a FOIA request if it weren't for the list being leaked outside of city hall. It's no different than if you're delinquent on your utilities. I might be able to find that information if I went and searched specifically for that. But what are the chances I would ever do so?! And if I did, would it embarrass you any less when I aired it on social media that you couldn't afford your bills? (Although again, vital to note those citizens on the original list had theirs FORGIVEN so this is merely an analogy and not meant to insult, but prove a point).

Social Media has been blowing up with screenshots of arguments and threats in comments threads. Neighbors are now shredding each other apart over which side of the Lisa Talbert and Mayor Butch Womack fence they fall on. They're posting revenge posts to embarrass each other into silence. What have we let this election do to our community?

And why aren't those involved speaking out? Consider this, the candidates/those involved are letting their supporters fight the backlash on this one. People who are everyday people are being vilified and are having every skeleton pulled out of their closets while the public watches. This campaign has been argued over the grounds of transparency. So why are we content with a complete media blackout from those who should be speaking? We need to quit attacking each other and start demanding answers.

Otherwise, we're afraid Easley might become a place NO one wants to live. And that would be such a terrible tragedy for this small town we all used to love.
