Bookstore Romance Day activities in WNY will vary by store: Good Neighbor Bookstore will host author Lorinda Faye from noon until 2 p.m.; Afterglow Books, which specializes in romance and fantasy, is giving 15 percent off selected romance and romantasy books, as well as giveaways such as hats, tote bags and stickers; The Beekeeper's Bookshop will have Tarot readings.

Some bookstores are still snobbish to carry romance books, but Bookstore Romance Day has created a dialogue. Now more bookstores are carrying romance books -- some are only carrying romance books.

Rhiannon Browning is co-hosting a new podcast called “Voices of the Voiceless.”
Rhiannon is a news producer with WKBW and joins senior reporter Maki Becker on the podcast, which highlights unsolved murders and missing persons cases across Western New York. They dive into long unsolved investigations, speaking with families, cold case detectives and people touched by these tragedies.
The show premiered in May and three episodes are currently available. “Voices of the Voiceless” is available on major podcast platforms, with video episodes at the WKBW website and on YouTube.
Rhiannon visited "The Enthusiasts Guild" a couple years ago to talk about the classic film “His Girl Friday."

French Heritage Day at Old Fort Niagara was Saturday, November 8, 2025. Historical reenactors and interpreters shared the history of French explorers, traders and military forces over different periods, from the first documented French presence in 1669 until the British takeover.
In 1726, the French began building Le Maison Machicoulis, now known as the "French Castle."
As Old Fort Niagara noted in a news release: "The French controlled Fort Niagara until 1759 when British and New York provincial forces, aided by nearly 1,000 Haudenosaunee allies, captured the fort after a 19-day siege.
Although French occupation of the Niagara lasted just 33 years, the early explorers and soldiers left an indelible impression on the Niagara Region. From place names like LaSalle to Old Fort Niagara’s original French-built structures, the French left their mark on the area."
