New Jersey is a psychological trap. Yesterday we stepped outside, and felt suspiciously pleasant upper 40-degree air. Windows down. Light jacket. Maybe even standing outside Wawa for no reason.

We started thinking things like, “Winter’s basically over,” and “I might grill this weekend.” The air smells like possibility. You forget who you are. You forget where you live.

Then Sunday arrives like a betrayal. The sky looks angry. And deep down, you realize New Jersey showed you happiness for exactly 36 hours… just to remind you it can take it away.
