I had to obtain my high school transcript for my new job, and this is the first time I've seen it in almost 25 years!

In case you were curious what the Mouse was up to in her high school days... I've have shared it here for your judgment 😜

You will see many music-related classes... all with grades of "A". (Are we surprised...??) In fact, I took Music History/Appreciation and Music Theory my Junior year... and then decided to take those classes again my Senior year just for kicks. They weren't supposed to let me, or give me credit for them... but someone dropped the ball in my favor and let it happen anyway!

The only bad grade I really got was in Honors German III my Junior year, and that was because my depression was in full swing that year, and I literally stopped trying.

And when you stop trying in an advanced foreign language class... you get lost and fall behind REAL quick, lol. I remember spending most of that class just giggling in the back row with my friend Buck. One time he brought one of those squawky rubber chickens with him and hid it in his backpack, and kept reaching in to squeeze it real quick during class. The teacher never could figure out what the sound was or where it was coming from πŸ˜†

Senior year was a breeze, and even though I was absent 23 times and tardy 23 times, I still sailed through that year with a 3.8 GPA. That's when I learned the valuable and dangerous life lesson that minimal effort can still equal success, as long as you find workarounds, haha.

I graduated on May 25th, 2002 with a 3.4 GPA and received an Honors Diploma (huzzah!).

It's weird how something like a piece of paper from 25 years ago with numbers and letters on it is used as a snapshot of how capable you are as a person in society. Not sure that I like it, much. But... here we are πŸ™ƒ

You GUYS...!!! 😁

I just got a brand new job in a field that I've been passionate about for a long time, but never quite knew where to start.

I'm going to be a Certified Peer Support Specialist. It's my first Big Girl job (I even get a company laptop, haha!) 😊

The job entails assisting those in need of getting back on track with life, due to things like mental health or substance abuse setbacks.

We help them with recovery goals, find coping strategies, and help them connect with community resources to get back on their feet physically, financially, and mentally.

I'll still do Uber in my off-time though, because I feel like that's an important contribution, too. Plus, I really enjoy it πŸ₯°

I'm so excited to finally have a job where I can truly be part of helping people and making a real difference on a regular basis! This is my calling and I finally found it πŸ’œ

Highlights of my Ubering today:

- Almost got in an accident in the construction zone because people don't understand the simple concept of zipper-merging

- Got bit by a mosquito helping a little boy and his mother load a bicycle into my trunk

- Took a rider so far out to the boonies that I got lost for a couple minutes trying to come back to town

- Made a rider laugh so hard that she said she only wanted me as a driver, forever

- Almost got hit by a train because the light at the crossing was green, there were no crossing gates, and the train didn't blow its horn at all until the last second when I was actively in front of it (yes, I crapped my pants...)

- Saw the most spectacular and enormous rainbow over the entire town, that lasted about half an hour

Time for pajamas, tea, and Netflix πŸ’œ

One of the books JJ picked out for me for my birthday was this...

Nick Offerman's memoir - "Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man's Fundamentals for Delicious Living".

I never in a million years would have selected this book for myself. I know who Nick Offerman IS... and I know he's married to Megan Mullally (of Will & Grace fame). But I never would have been interested in a book by or about him.

But my dude knows me, and is always good at picking out my reads... so I just shrugged and said, "Ok, let's give it a shot."

Y'all... it is HILARIOUS πŸ˜‚ The break in the narrative at one point for him to include a random haiku about meat dang near did me in, I was laughing so hard. I keep pausing to laugh and then read JJ the excerpt that made me laugh... and then he laughs... it's a whole lotta laughin'.

I have so much more respect for Nick Offerman now (I always liked him as an actor, anyway), that I've officially sworn off fast food after reading his paragraph on being staunchly farm-to-table when it comes to meat.

The best birthday gift is being pleasantly surprised by whatever JJ picks out for me. And this book was the best pleasant surprise, yet! πŸ’œ

We're going to the zoo, then book shopping, then a birthday meal at the alien restaurant! πŸ₯°

I'm officially 42 years old, but I don't feel a day over 12... except for the gray hair, haha 😁

Scrappy had a weird thing on his butt, so we took him to the vet today.

He's fine, but we needed to keep him from licking it. He's too small, flexible, and hairless for a cone... so we bought him some diapers.

He has a problem with p*eing in the house, too... so we figured, hey, two birds one stone!
.. πŸ™„ ...

We were busy installing a new storm door while Scrappy was in the house wearing his brand new diaper...
..and SOMEHOW he still managed to p*e on the floor AND take a big crap in the hallway, just as an extra "Eff You" to us.

This dog... I swear to God πŸ˜‚

I was having a fantastic Uber night... until this happened.

All my riders were happy, pleasant, and fun - and throwing cash tips at me like I was a str*pper. I was in a great mood and life was good.

And then I got a pickup call to the hospital ER - which actually isn't unusual. But this time was different.

A quiet and small young lady got in, who had clearly had something happen to her. Most notably, her eye was swollen shut to the size of a golf ball.

I asked, "What happened to you?"

She said that her brother beat her up. She was staying with him (she wasn't from here), and that he had always been kind of mouthy with her and this time she stood up for herself. And he did that to her in response.

My job, according to Uber, was to drop her off at residential address, and nothing more. But I didn't feel good about it. This girl was very meek and distraught, and I wasn't about to just drop her off and forget about it.

"Where I'm dropping you off," I said, "Are you safe there?"

She began crying and said she wasn't sure. She was pretty sure they had arrested her brother, but she really didn't want to stay there. Her plan was to grab some belongings and try to find a hotel for the next couple of nights until she could secure travel back home.

I asked if she wanted me to wait outside while she went in, just to make sure she was safe. She started crying pretty hard at that point and thanked me and practically begged me to do so. I reached into the backseat and held her hand, breaking into tears, myself.

When we got there, the door was locked and she couldn't get in. She was worried about being able to get a room at a hotel because her ID was in the house, and her phone was only on 5% battery - her charger was also in the house. (I offered mine, but she had an old iphone, and all I have is Type C.)

She began to cry again, saying she didn't know what she was going to do now. I told her, "We'll take care of it. I'll get you where you can get a charger and anything else you need, and I'll make sure you can get into a hotel room."

She thanked me a million times (and also apologized), but I gave her a hug and told her it would be ok. I swear, I've never been hugged so tightly in my entire life.

I canceled my next ride and logged out of the Uber app, and drove her to the 24/7 truck stop so she could get supplies. While she was inside, I called around to a few different hotels to see if they had any rooms.

When I found one that did, I explained the situation and said she didn't have her ID, and told them why. They were more than happy to help out and check her in. I said we would be right there.

She got back in the car with her bag of necessities, and I told her what hotel I was taking her to. She continued to thank me while crying, and I tried my best to keep it together (I didn't do very well - so we cried together on the drive to the hotel).

I went inside with her and made sure she got checked in at the desk. The front desk attendant was amazing and very helpful and kind, clearly also emotional about the situation and the state this poor young lady was in.

Before I left, she gave me another enormous hug and thanked me for taking care of her and for showing her so much kindness.

I got back into my car and immediately burst into the wave of tears I'd been holding back. I hate that this happened to this sweet young lady, but I'm so glad she is safe now.

I don't share this to pat myself on the back. I only want to show that with this job, you truly never know what the night will bring, and absolutely anything can happen. We have to remember that while we do have a paid job to do, we also have a job as human beings to take care of each other.

My thoughts and prayers are with that young lady, always πŸ’œ

Our new kitchen has so much storage space and I'm still trying to get used to it...

Me (trying to find the sandwich baggies): "Ugh, I still have trouble remembering where things are, here."

JJ: "Well, you'd better learn real quick!"

Me: "I don't think taking an extra ten seconds to locate the sandwich bags is gonna kill me."

JJ: "What if there was an intruder and you had to act quickly?"

Me: "... if there was an intruder, I don't think the first thing I'm gonna go for is sandwich bags."

JJ: "What if he wants a sandwich to-go?"

Me: "Then I'll tell him I'm not his b*tch and give him directions to Jimmy Johns."

This is Scrappy's daily reminder for you to vote for him in the Final Round! πŸ₯° (lΓnk in cΓΆmments πŸ‘‡πŸ»)

He's in 3rd place and thinks it's "de dumbs". He told me that no one gets cookies in 3rd place, so he is sad.

You can vote once for free every 12 hours, and there is also a paid vote option if you're feeling spunky.

Thank you for all the votes so far! πŸ’™ He's got a LOT of them - but apparently the pets in 1st and 2nd just have a wee bit more, haha.
