Honoring the incredible work of artist Scott Strong Hawk Foster and his project, “Ways of My Ancestors – Imagery: Lighting the Path to Awareness.” This powerful installation brings contemporary Indigenous voices to the forefront, creating a space for reflection, visibility, and celebration of culture that continues to resonate.
I am proud to have documented this important work. Being 25% Maliseet from Maine, with my grandfather being 100%, made this project deeply personal. It is about remembrance, resilience, and honoring the generations who came before us.
The installation features ten large-scale, two-sided portraits at the east and west entrances of Quincy Market, reaching tens of thousands of visitors daily. The opening reception brought together artists, performers, leaders, and community members, including Native American singers and drummers Strong Eagle Daly, Ella Nathanael Alkiewicz, and Bruce Star Curliss, with remarks from Jim Peters of the Massachusetts Commission on Indian Affairs and Scott himself.
Thank you to , , , , , and for supporting this work.
Special thanks to Luke Magnuson for filming when I could not be behind the camera. His support and professionalism made it possible to capture the project with the care it deserves.
This project was produced through AC Production, where we focus on telling real stories in a way that honors the people and places involved. Every project is approached with care, curiosity, and respect.
