RIDOC News:
The Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) would like to recognize and congratulate our RIDOC K-9 Unit for its continuous contribution to public safety.
Recently, on June 12th, 2025, RIDOC K-9 Unit hosted the annual 2025 NAPWDA K-9 certifications, where K-9 teams from different parts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts obtained certifications in various K-9 disciplines.
They also trained and successfully graduated the Warwick Police Department K-9 division’s newest K-9 Officers. We would like to congratulate the Warwick Police Department for their dedicated service to protecting our communities, and for promoting and supporting the training of K-9 Officers to assist in that endeavor.
The RIDOC K-9 Unit teams, under the leadership of K-9 Commander Stephen Hauser, are specially trained to tactically respond to a variety of emergency situations, including Crowd and Riot Control, Tracking and Patrol work among many other duties. The K-9 Unit provides protection to both the public and staff while carrying out the Department's Mission with professionalism, integrity, and excellence.
Congratulations to RIDOC and Warwick PD K-9 Units, and thank you for your valuable contributions, your commitment to public service, and tireless dedication to public safety!
