RIDOC News:
The Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) would like to recognize and congratulate our RIDOC K-9 Unit for its continuous contribution to public safety.

Recently, on June 12th, 2025, RIDOC K-9 Unit hosted the annual 2025 NAPWDA K-9 certifications, where K-9 teams from different parts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts obtained certifications in various K-9 disciplines.

They also trained and successfully graduated the Warwick Police Department K-9 division’s newest K-9 Officers. We would like to congratulate the Warwick Police Department for their dedicated service to protecting our communities, and for promoting and supporting the training of K-9 Officers to assist in that endeavor.

The RIDOC K-9 Unit teams, under the leadership of K-9 Commander Stephen Hauser, are specially trained to tactically respond to a variety of emergency situations, including Crowd and Riot Control, Tracking and Patrol work among many other duties. The K-9 Unit provides protection to both the public and staff while carrying out the Department's Mission with professionalism, integrity, and excellence.

Informational Discussion on the Noise Ordinance - Gathering Local Perspectives

Noise Ordinance Work Session
Monday, August 4th Town Hall 6:00pm – Town Council Chamber
Town Manager, Town Planner, Police Chief, and Building Official and others...

The Town of East Greenwich has scheduled a series of noise ordinance informational work sessions in an effort to gather local information as to residents’ thoughts on the existing noise ordinance and local impacts in the community. This conversation will cover areas of potential recommended change, language expansion, language constriction, past and possible future exceptions, enforcement, etc. and other general discussion on local expectations. The Town has scheduled a meeting on August 4th and September 25th to facilitate this discussion. At the conclusion of these sessions, and based on local participation and input, the information gathered will be compiled for the Town Council as part of a discussion to be led by the Town Manager as to whether there is sufficient call for change and a potential recommendation to modify the present ordinance.
If you are interested in better understanding the existing ordinance, seeing regulatory change or no change at all, please attend or follow the outcomes of these initial work sessions. Also, you can always provide input by forwarding your thoughts to the Town Manager at: [email protected] or the Town Council at: [email protected]. Thank you.
