Ashley Capraro, co-owner of what will soon be dubbed Hampton Premium Green, says that she and her husband, Al, expect to have their new business up and running by mid- to late October in the historic former home on Montauk Highway in Water Mill that they purchased in 2023.

Author and scholar David Townsend will present his new historical novel, “The Ram in the Thicket: A Novel of Medieval Norwich,” at two events on the East End in the coming weeks. The first event will be held at St. Luke’s Church Hoie Hall in East Hampton on Wednesday, August 13, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. The second event will take place on Sunday, September 7, at 5 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor.

Michelangelo Lieberman, the New York State trails director for the Trust for Public Land, said the federal government has agreed to provide $3.8 million in funding for the design phase of the portion of the greenway that will run from Riverhead to Montauk. Suffolk County will provide $600,000 in matching funds, while Southampton and East Hampton towns will each contribute $100,000, and the Trust for Public Land will pay $150,000.
