“Start with yourself.” That’s where begins when talking about designing your life. Not with a five-year plan. Not with perfection. But with a journal, a pen in hand, and honest questions.

How did I honor myself today?
What felt good?
What felt scary?

What keeps resurfacing beneath the surface?
On , Tracee shares how journaling helps her notice the “whoppers,” the deeper truths hidden underneath the noise, and reconnect with the feelings, patterns, and desires shaping her life.

She talks about building an “unbreakable, unshakable foundation” rooted in truly knowing yourself.

It’s the same belief we’ve always held at AllSwell: that writing by hand helps you connect with yourself and clear a path forward. It’s also at the heart of our founder, ’s, book, The Big Unlock. Check it out at the link in bio if you’re ready to reclaim your attention, creativity, and inner voice through mindful writing.

The phone-down, notebook-open movement isn’t new.

We just keep having to rediscover our analog instincts — the ones that know, without being told, that making things with your hands feels different than consuming things with your eyes.

Writing by hand does something different to the brain. It connects signals in a way that lets information land and be retained. Instead of evaporating (or failing to show up) when we’re scrolling, ideas have a better chance of surviving on a page. That’s not nostalgia. That’s neuroscience.

Our founder wrote the book on this — literally. The Big Unlock makes the case for reclaiming your attention in a world that’s designed to take it.

Because a writing practice isn’t just about the page, it’s about what you get back when you stop giving yourself away.

The world doesn’t slow down on its own. That’s on us.

This time of year, we’re taking the invitation seriously — longer light, flowers doing their thing, the particular stillness of a warm afternoon. There’s a reason “stop and smell the roses” has survived this long as a cliché. It’s actually good advice.

Sprinkled throughout this little moodboard are two prompts from our founder ’s book, The Big Unlock, both about the practice of slowing down. Because paying attention is, in many ways, the whole point.

What are you noticing this spring?

Yesterday marked the start of Mental Health Awareness Month, which is naturally a big topic for and me as journaling is a key facet of a mental well-being toolkit.

I provisionally planned to offer a free digital journaling workshop this month. I also intended to create a free downloadable mindful writing PDF.

But you know what? After coming off of nearly sixty days of book tour to support the publication of The Big Unlock, creating the time and space to plan, promote and execute those projects wouldn’t be good for my own mental health. So instead of modeling non-stop outward-facing activity, I’m choosing something different.

It is okay to step back. It is healthy to pause. Slowing down from time to time isn’t a lifestyle choice; it’s part of a sane, balanced existence.

From Miami to Malibu to Madison Avenue, one of the recurring conversations I’ve encountered while on the road is a kind of profound creative burnout people are experiencing.

The level of connectivity that is currently expected of working creatives and entrepreneurs (particularly female founders) is absurd. Eventually, there will be a shift and we’ll look back on this period as laughable, just short of tragic.

In the meantime, I invite you to do less. And if you need some support, I hope you’ll swipe through for a simple yet profound mindful writing exercise to help you along.

I’m here if you’re struggling with how to incorporate journaling into your life and The Big Unlock distills my decade plus of work sharing this modality and its benefits across sectors. My DMs are always open if you need tips or more convincing.

This Sunday, I’m joining forces with for a 90-minute experience at in LA: guided journaling prompts from The Big Unlock, followed by a 60-minute class led by Jaycee to integrate, release, and embody whatever the writing unlocks.

The Class online was one of the ways I managed to get through the pandemic in one piece. It was how I moved my body, releasing stuck emotion, sweating out the fear and making space for expansive, internal calm. was my favorite teacher, and I was fortunate to meet her IRL when we were both presenters at The Nantucket Project a couple of years ago. I pretty much fan-girl’d her backstage, but she was very cool about it. And now, here we are, doing this event together, joining journaling and movement. Plus there will be and treats for all who attend, and books available on site for purchase.

This is the only open-to-the-public event I’m doing in LA (my old stomping ground) for this book tour, so I hope to see some familiar faces. Grab your spot at the link in bio.

A bonus chapter, just for you (keep reading).

For many of us, Earth Day lands differently than it used to. There’s a word for what a lot of people are feeling: solastalgia. Australian philosopher Glenn Albrecht coined the term to describe the emotional distress associated with environmental change. Sound familiar? If that resonates, swipe for a writing prompt.

My book, The Big Unlock, was published two weeks ago, but the chapter I wrote on eco-anxiety didn’t make the final cut due to space considerations. “Earthly Concerns” goes deeper into this topic than what I’ve touched on in the carousel, and I’d like you to have it.

Comment “Earth Day” and I’ll send you the download link.

Remember: the pen holds more power than you might think. I urge you to use yours to both name the pressing concerns of our age and help identify ways to address them.

2026 is shaping up to be the year of analog appreciation.

After years of acceleration, optimization, and endless notifications, more people are rediscovering something beautifully simple.

Across culture, media, and science, we’re seeing the same signals: people craving fewer screens, more presence, and a return to slower, tactile ways of engaging with the world.

In other words… welcome to the party.

Around here, we’ve been exploring the benefits of analog living for over a decade — from journaling and creative practice to conversation, community, and time spent in nature. These tools aren’t nostalgic. They’re restorative. They help us pay attention, think more clearly, and reconnect with ourselves and each other.
Swipe through for a roundup of proof that the analog renaissance is very much underway.

The irony that people are sharing their offline experiences online isn’t lost on us. But anything that makes going offline aspirational, is helping us all trend in the right direction.

If you’re feeling the pull: start small. Close a few tabs. Open a notebook. Go for a walk and *don’t* listen to a podcast. Notice what shifts.

And if you’re curious about the science and practice behind mindful writing, our founder explores it deeply in her book, The Big Unlock, available now at all the usual places. 🔏

Shooting for the moon has always been shorthand for the impossible.

And yet, here we are — watching humans leave Earth’s orbit again for the first time in decades.

What’s striking about this mission isn’t just the scale, it’s the humanity.

A crater named for a lost wife. Words spoken like poetry. A view of Earth that alters the collective perspective. A crew that reflects the world more fully than ever before.

We tend to think of “moonshots” as extraordinary, distant, reserved for a select few, but there’s something in this mission that feels closer to home.
Attention. Reflection. The ability to step back — even briefly — and see things differently.

We believe that kind of shift doesn’t require a spacecraft. It can start with a pen. ✍️

Meet EndsWell Collective, ’s new nonprofit program, bringing mindful journaling to the communities that need it most. The premise is simple: pen to paper is a proven, low-to-no-cost tool for well-being — and it belongs to everyone.

EndsWell pairs trained facilitators from our AllSwell Superconductor Network with organizations already serving these communities. Such as: Wounded veterans. At-risk youth. Women in cancer treatment. Caregivers. Those navigating grief. People on the front lines of hard things.

And this is not a volunteer program — facilitators are fairly paid for meaningful, creative, altruistic work. The ripple effect is the whole point.

The timing feels significant, too. My book The Big Unlock (Simon & Schuster) comes out March 31st, and EndsWell is, in many ways, its living extension. The book opens the door. EndsWell keeps it open for everyone.

When I was thinking about how I wanted to mark pub day for The Big Unlock, what felt right was getting as many pens moving as possible.

So that’s what we’re doing. This isn’t about me. It’s for you.

On March 31st, the day the book is officially in the world, I’m hosting The Big Write™: a free, live, guided journaling session, open to everyone and anyone. One hour. Multiple prompts from the pages of The Big Unlock. My goal: A legion of people writing simultaneously from wherever they are around the world.

Separately, but (better) together. That’s the dynamic I’ve witnessed in hundreds of AllSwell workshops — the support that happens when we write in community. You don’t need to share a word of what you put on the page. It’s the act of simultaneously engaging in creativity that matters.

Newbies and seasoned journalers are all welcome here. Welcome to the mindful writing revolution. Let’s reclaim our attention. Let’s live with intention. Let’s write our way there, together.

I’ll be joined by some humans I admire and deeply appreciate:

It’s free. It’s an hour. It might be exactly what you need right now.

Monday, March 31st · Noon PST / 3 PM EST · Comment REGISTER for the link and B.Y.O.P. (bring your own pen). ✍️
