This is now a Severe thunderstorm warning to include parts of Wolcott and Craftsbury until 430 p.m. Winds to 60 mph and torrential downpours possible.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for parts of Franklin, Lamoille and Orleans counties until 4:15 PM. The main hazard is winds up to 50 mph.

The Storm Prediction Center is contemplating a tornado watch for northern New York this afternoon. Storms developing in this area will move eastward later in the afternoon and evening and cause additional severe weather.

Severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30 for Crittenden, Washington, Lamoille, Orleans, and Caledonia counties. Quarter sized hail and strong winds expected.

Active weather is expected this evening and overnight as a cold front moves in to our area. Showers and thunderstorms developing over the Saint Lawrence Valley will initially be spotty in coverage, before converting into a line and moving east into Vermont. The timing of these storms will be between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Damaging winds to 60 m.p.h., heavy rainfall, and an isolated tornado threat exist, especially in western parts of our area. Monitor local media for further updates.

WINTER STORM WARNING in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday. Expect 8-10" Champlain Valley; 10-12" in the valleys of the NEK, and 12-14" in the mountains of Vermont.
