In Monmouth County, New Jersey. Why would the EPA put a Toxic Sludge & Debris Plant in Harrison, NJ, across the street from a Residential Community and in a densely populated area? The EPA is supposed to protect public health, not create a scenario that puts residents and commuters in harm's way.

Residents in Monmouth County, New Jersey, have been warned about potentially toxic chemicals as the EPA investigates leaking chemicals at a closed industrial...

Harrison’s Labor Day: Moving Forward, Not Backward
This Labor Day, Harrison honors its proud past while looking firmly toward the future. Once known as the “Beehive of Industry,” the town’s southern half fueled America’s growth and even helped win World War II. Where the Crucible Steel plant once stood, modern homes now rise—Steelworks, The Cobalt Lofts, and other developments are proof of the vision set by the late Mayor Raymond J. McDonough more than 26 years ago.
Labor Day reminds us of the sacrifices and achievements of America’s workers. In Harrison, it also reminds us of the importance of protecting progress. The PSE&G site—once polluted but now cleaned and promised as a park, community center, and PATH turnaround—must not become a toxic sludge facility. That would undo decades of redevelopment and betray the families who now call this community home.
Harrison cannot return to its industrial contamination days. It must continue to grow as a vibrant residential town. This Labor Day, let’s celebrate our workers, our community, and our future—and stay engaged. The next Harrison Mayor & Council meeting is Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 6:15 p.m.

Labor Day is about more than the past. It is about protecting the present and securing a healthier, brighter future for generations to come. This Labor Day, Harrison celebrates not just the contributions of America’s workers, but also the vision of a town determined to move forward—not backward.

Harrison Police Hosting “Pizza With A Cop” on August 27

The Harrison Police Department will host its sixth Pizza With A Cop event of the summer on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pocket Park, 1200 South 5th Street, in Harrison’s Riverbend District. The park is located between the Steelworks and Cobalt Lofts apartments, near the Wyldes Harrison and Vermella Harrison.

The event, organized by the department’s Community Policing Unit under Chief Stanley Titterington and Director Nicholas Breiner, invites residents to enjoy free pizza while meeting local officers in a friendly, relaxed setting.

This summer’s series has already made stops at the Firehouse Playground, Kingsland Courts, 300 Somerset, and Dey Street. Earlier this month, the department also hosted a well-attended National Night Out at Library Park.

“Pizza With A Cop” continues the Harrison Police Department’s long tradition of community policing, fostering trust and cooperation between residents and law enforcement.
Residents are encouraged to attend, share a slice, and connect with the officers who serve their community.

The EPA's Project Director, Alice Yuh, announced at the Kearny EPA Meeting in Kearny that the Harrison Open Air Toxic Sludge Plant, River Debris plant, and Construction Equipment and Materials plant will be coming to the PSE&G Property between the Harrison PATH Station and the Passaic River in 2016.

It is a reality that Mayor Fife & Councilman James Doran said was NOT coming to Harrison. They LIED. The reality of the EPA's plan will be hitting home soon.

What is the impact on Harrison residents, especially those in the modern apartment buildings in the Riverbend District and near the Harrison PATH Station?

Leave your thoughts on the EPA's Toxic Sludge Plant.
