Labor Day has a special significance in Harrison, New Jersey. Long before luxury apartment buildings, restaurants, and Sports Illustrated Stadium transformed the neighborhood surrounding the Harrison PATH station, thousands of men and women reported for work each day to enormous factories, steel mills, foundries, and machine shops that filled much of southern Harrison.

Harrison will trade soccer chants for the unmistakable sound of heavy metal this Labor Day weekend as legendary British band Iron Maiden takes over Sports Illustrated Stadium for two consecutive nights.

Iron Maiden's Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026 arrives at the Harrison stadium on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, 2026, with both concerts scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The shows are part of the band's massive 50th-anniversary celebration and will feature fellow metal heavyweights Megadeth and Anthrax as special guests.

Harrison Municipal Meetings Scheduled for Late August 2026

Harrison residents interested in following decisions affecting their community will have several opportunities during the remainder of August to attend municipal meetings at Harrison Town Hall.

According to the official Town of Harrison website and its meeting calendar, the upcoming schedule includes a Mayor and Council meeting and a Harrison Redevelopment Agency meeting. The Town's Legal Notices page also lists notices involving the Planning Board in late August.

Mayor and Council Meeting Tuesday, August 18

The next regular meeting of the Harrison Mayor and Council is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:15 p.m.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Mayor’s Conference Room on the third floor of Harrison Town Hall, 318 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, New Jersey. The Town calendar lists the meeting from 6:15 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The notice states that "any and all public business" may be formally discussed, decided, and acted upon at the meetings.

The Town also provides a public-comment portion of its Mayor and Council meetings. According to the published meeting notice, speakers must state their name and municipality of residence for the record, and public comments are generally limited to five minutes, although the chairperson, Mayor James Fife, may extend that time.

Water Surging From Manhole Near PATH Station Renews Concerns About Processing Dioxin-Contaminated Passaic River Sediment on Harrison Waterfront

A powerful rainstorm has once again put Harrison's vulnerability to flooding on full display, and this time the images raise an even larger question about the Environmental Protection Agency's plans for the Passaic River waterfront.

Video recorded in the area surrounding the Harrison PATH Station shows streets covered by stormwater and, most strikingly, water forcefully surging upward through what appears to be a welded-down manhole cover that appeared to be part of a child waterpark apparatus. Harrison Hosts NYCFC and Gotham FC on Back-to-Back Nights.

Sports Illustrated Stadium will again become the temporary home of New York City FC on Thursday night, August 13, 2026, when NYCFC takes on Mexico's Club Necaxa in the final match of the Leagues Cup Phase One. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Harrison.

League Cup Brings International Soccer to Harrison 8/6 & 8/9/26
Harrison's Sports Illustrated Stadium will become the center of North American soccer this weekend as Major League Soccer's New York City FC hosts two of Mexico's most recognizable clubs in Leagues Cup Phase One competition, beginning Thursday night against Club Santos Laguna and continuing Sunday when Cruz Azul comes to town.

The three-day stretch also includes a National Women's Soccer League matchup Friday evening when NJ/NY Gotham FC hosts the San Diego Wave FC, giving soccer fans in Harrison an opportunity to watch elite men's and women's professional soccer on consecutive days.

According to the published schedule, New York City FC will face Santos Laguna on Thursday, August 6, at 7:30 p.m., Gotham FC hosts San Diego Wave FC on Friday, August 7, at 8 p.m., and New York City FC returns on Sunday, August 9, at 7:30 p.m. to meet Cruz Azul.

PTI: What It Means in Harrison Town Hall Theft Cases
Who qualifies?

PTI is not automatic. Even if someone appears eligible, admission is discretionary.

Generally, applicants should:

Be charged with an indictable offense in Superior Court.
Have little or no prior criminal record.
Not have previously participated in PTI.
Demonstrate that rehabilitation is more appropriate than prosecution.
Show that the interests of society and any victims would not be harmed by admission.

Admission typically requires approval from:

the County Prosecutor;
the Criminal Division Manager (through the Probation Department); and
a Superior Court judge.

Are certain crimes treated differently?

Yes.

Certain offenses or defendants receive much greater scrutiny and, in many instances, are unlikely to be admitted into PTI.

Examples include:

violent crimes;
organized crime or racketeering;
defendants already on probation or parole;
repeat offenders; and
public employees or public officials charged with crimes involving their public employment or office.

The New Jersey Judiciary specifically advises that an application is unlikely to be accepted if the applicant "is a public employee or officer charged with a crime that involves your employment or office." That does not make admission impossible, but it means applicants in that category generally must present compelling reasons why PTI should nevertheless be granted.

What happens during PTI?

Participants are supervised by the Probation Division for a period that may last up to 36 months, although many cases are shorter.

Conditions often include:

restitution;
community service;
drug or alcohol evaluations;
mental health counseling;
random drug testing;
educational or vocational programs; and
other conditions tailored to the individual case.

What happens if someone completes PTI?

Successful completion generally results in:

dismissal of the criminal charges;
no criminal conviction arising from that case; and
eligibility, in many cases, to seek an expungement of the arrest and proceedings after the applicable waiting period.
