Did you notice anything different yesterday? It might not have been something that you could see with your eyes, but something very special happened yesterday. Did you notice that anything changed? Well, on March 20, 2025 at 2:01 a.m., spring, also known as the March equinox or the vernal equinox, arrived. It marks a time when day and night are equal. From now on, the amount of daylight will increase each day until June, when the summer solstice occurs. Do note: each year, the arrival of spring is on a different day. Former San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo canceled his debate appearance with Rep. Evan Low last Friday, because he said he had laryngitis. It was fortunate that Liccardo and Low's speaking voices were in top shape last Monday Sept. 23 during the debate between them at the Palo Alto Rotary meeting where I served as moderator. It was a very well attended and informative session.

Would you like to win a cash award? Well, you might be able to. The East Palo Alto Center for Community Media, which supports the East Palo Alto Today newspaper, is holding a Stop the Hate: Reimagining Our Communities Art Competition to solicit art work that illustrates how we can prevent hateful incidents and encourage collaboration and healing relationships within the community. Cash awards will be given to those who submit the best artwork. Art submissions can include original drawings, paintings, photography, posters, video, audio presentations, essays, poetry and other art forms.
