8-22-2026 Codpiece performed “Feel It Still (Rebel With a Kickstand)” by Portugal. The Man at Neptunes in Hyannis, MA. MUST LISTEN to Codpiece do this really important and catchy song. I especially loved Rose's trumpet playing on this song and Izzy's bass and dazzling pants which reminded me of the 70s. Of course, Manx is always solid on drums and carries the beat without overpowering the rest of the band. The icing on the cake is John's vocals and he nails this one perfectly. I think this song is important because it gives you a good feeling and there's a reason for that. Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man is a psychedelic rock song that explores themes of escapism and rebellion. The song's core message is one of embracing the freedom to be oneself, despite societal pressures. The song is a call to action, urging listeners to stand up for their beliefs and fight against injustice, inequality, and apathy. I remember when most of us felt that way. I think it is really important to support this band and these young people and the core values expressed in their music. Follow them below and show up, this support is important for all of us.

8-22-2026 Codpiece performed “You Know I'm No Good” by Amy Winehouse at Neptunes in Hyannis, MA. Brittany takes her very first turn on stage as lead singer. Brittany is John's wife, and she is in charge of sound, merch, logistics, and covering up all the equipment in the drizzle. I feel honored to have been there to capture it, but it was like a dance recital because at least seven other people had their cameras out and were capturing it as well. Hat tip to her partner John, who must have encouraged her to take this step and she does such an amazing job. I love the part where he is gushing on her at the end and it is all well deserved. Partners and people that make each other better are the absolute best. I really hope we get to see Brittany sing again and again. In the big picture of LIFE, these memories that this band, who are all related in someway, are making will last a lifetime. You can easily be a part of it as well by following them below and showing up for a gig. You will be so glad you did.

8-22-2026 Codpiece performed “It's Not All About You” by Lawrence at Neptunes in Hyannis, MA. This was my favorite song of the night because it reminded me of when this band first started out and everybody was completely in tune with their instrument and their role within the band. John would sing lead on almost every song and do it well. His voice is captivating and the musical abilities of each band member is top-notch. You can see it all on this video as well, which I was happy to capture. I think musicians are happiest when they are able to lose themselves into their instruments and do their thing. That said, watching this band that has pushed themselves to sing and take on much greater roles has been inspiring. They are living proof that the magic can really happen when you were willing to take the risk to go out of your normal comfort zone. I will follow them below because I can't wait to see what new thing they have added the next time they play.

8-22-2026 Codpiece performed “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran at Neptunes in Hyannis, MA. Izzy the bass player sings lead front and center on this Ed Sheeran classic. In the beginning of watching this band years ago, Izzy was always way off to the side and certainly not at the level of singing lead front and center like she is now. I love the fact that everyone is participating and singing and backing her up and John takes over lead in various parts and it really shows the total versatility of this band. They are tight, they are a team, and they are also family and a joy to watch and listen to. If I was booking a band for a venue, party or event where there would be a large group of young attendees, I would book these guys immediately. They are totally connected to their generation and awesome representatives as well.

8-22-2026 Codpiece performed “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd at Neptunes in Hyannis, MA. Rose sings an amazing lead on this song as well as accompanies herself on trumpet. That is Manx behind her on drums and vocals and when Manx is into it like he is on this song, you know it rocks. Manx is married to Rose's sister Izzy, who is on bass. John, the lead singer is married to Brittany, who made her vocal debut on this evening. Brittany also runs the sound and the merch and logistics and is the crew as well. I'm just speculating, but my guess is that John who can play every instrument and sing in every vocal range also encourages each of these band members to go out of their comfort zone and sing and participate like Rose did this evening on this song. Watching this band evolve as much as they have in the last two years is really fantastic. It is part of the joy of supporting the Cape Cod band community and the young people who will entertain us for years to come. The way you can help is follow them below and show up for their gigs, it's real simple.

8-22-2026 Codpiece performed “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles at Neptunes in Hyannis, MA. MUST LISTEN as Codpiece returned to Hyannis and played Neptunes and rocked all of Main Street especially with this song. John the lead singer can sing in any range and also play any instrument. He is super talented and this band made up of related family members is awesome. It was so much fun and Neptunes was smart enough to book these guys in there outdoor venue that drew people right off the streets. John, the lead singer and guitarist, keyboards, just has an energy and voice that transcends directly to the crowd and the band and makes them awesome. Sisters, Izzy on bass and Rose on trumpet and now both on solo vocals have really upped their game. Manx (Taki) is the driving force on drums and when he's smiling and playing and singing, you know the band is rocking. Follow them below to see their next event.

8-22-2026 Thee Midnight Society performed “Zombie” by The Cranberries at Sundancer's in West Dennis, MA. MUST WATCH AND LISTEN just in case this is the last time that we ever get to see Thee Midnight Society completely jam out and lose themselves in the moment at the fabulous Sundancer's bar that has entertained us for so many decades. Of course Jess has the entire audience bobbing up and down to the Zombie chorus, but then she does something really special. She introduces lead guitarist Billy on the far right and tells the audience that the harder they jam out, the harder Billy will jam out. Then comes my absolute favorite moment as the three guitar players and the drummer bounce up and down in rhythm to Zombies. These are the kind of moments that Thee Midnight Society have given us at Sundancer's over the years and the thought that this could be the last total jam out makes you appreciate it even more. Of course, Jess and Thee Midnight Society create that vibe wherever they goes so follow them below, but there will never be another Sundancer's moment like this unless…

8-22-2026 Thee Midnight Society performed “Save Tonight” by Eagle-Eye Cherry at Sundancer's in West Dennis, MA. This was without doubt, my absolute favorite song of the night. That's because Matty the bass player was encouraged to sing lead and play rhythm guitar as Matt the drummer took over the bass Guitar and Jess the lead singer took over the drums. I have never seen any band switch up instruments like that and do such a completely awesome job. Matty has some beautiful vocal chops and brings the same intensity he plays the bass with to his singing. Matt, the drummer reminds me of the little mermaid set free to move about with the bass guitar and he is all over the stage. You forget that the drummer has to say stationary the entire time so watching him with his newfound mobile freedom was a joy to behold. I did not get a real good shot of Jess on the drums, but you can absolutely hear her and she is a great drummer. I mean she's great at everything but also at the drums. Perhaps her greatest quality is leading this band and mixing it up like they do on this song which seemed to energize everyone at the end of a set. Jess brings that not only to the band, but to all of us and is without doubt one of Cape Cod's best natural resources. All you have to do to support Jess and the band is show up for a gig by following them below.

8-22-2026 Thee Midnight Society performed “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield at Sundancer's in West Dennis, MA. Jess has some amazing vocal chops and they are on full display in this Natasha Bedingfield song. I am also a fan of Matt's really solid and loud drumming because I like loud drumming a lot. Of course, Billy and Matty are doing their thing on guitars and it all comes together for an awesome performance. This is what a really seasoned tight cover band plays like in a perfect setting like Sundancer's. The more things change the more they stay the same so we shall be hopeful that even with the loss of this iconic nightclub, this band and the music they play and the vibe they create will all endure. My good friend Martha always referred to Sundancer's as the "scene of the crime" because of an indiscretion I may or may not have had there 46 years ago. That's a long time for a place to be around. Thanks for the memories.

8-22-2026 Thee Midnight Society performed “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World at Sundancer's in West Dennis, MA. There is a part in "the middle" of this song, coincidentally that Billy rips into an amazing guitar solo. What I noticed in the video is that Jess and Matty are right there with him on their guitars. Then there's Matt pounding the drums and talk about having each other's backs. This is a veteran band and when they play together like this, it's absolute magic. This lyric personifies this band and it struck me once again right in the middle, "Live right now. Yeah, just be yourself, It doesn't matter if it's good enough (good enough). For someone else!" That's exactly what they're doing and they are having the time of their lives and those of us that are smart enough to attend the performance get to experience it as well. Be one of those people by following them below.
