**Week 1 Teams of the Week** (Football)
Caleb Galvan has begun a new weekly segment on 'Good Morning, Texas!'. For his sports segment on Mondays, he will feature a high school, and college, that deserves a spotlight as the team of the week!

HIGH SCHOOL- Rising Star
The Wildcats kicked off the season on the road in Year 2 of the Brent Williamson era. Highland is usually a tough place to play, and the Hornets are in the toughest district in 1A D1. Despite this, the Wildcats who came in as the underdog came away with a 53-28 victory to start the season 1-0! Rising Star will take on Lingleville at home this Friday!

College- Tarleton State
The Texans already had a win to start the 2025 season, defeating Portland State in Week 0, 42-0. Prior to the Texans matchup at West Point, Tarleton Football only had one other FBS victory in the schools history.

The Texans were down 24-10 at the 8:14 mark of the 3rd quarter, but two touchdowns in the second half would force Overtime. The last touchdown in regulation was a pass from Victor Gabalis to Cisco HS Alum and Tarleton Tight End, Dawson Hearne. The Texans would go on to win in Double Overtime to claim their 2nd win over an FBS opponent in program history.

The Texans have moved to in the FCS National Rankings from 8th, to 3rd (Tied with Montana State). The Texans will face Mississippi Valley State on Saturday at home.

**Train Derailment in Gordon**

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 12, 2025

Train Derailment Reported in Palo Pinto County

PALO PINTO COUNTY, Texas — At approximately 2 p.m., emergency crews responded to a train derailment near the Coalville Road Bridge, close to Gordon, Texas.

Preliminary reports indicate approximately 30 rail cars have derailed. Multiple entry teams, including Union Pacific HAZMAT personnel, are on scene assessing the situation. At this time, there are no confirmed hazardous material leaks.

All personnel have been accounted for, and no injuries have been reported. The situation is currently stable, but not yet fully controlled.

Some small grass fires have been reported in the area as a result of the derailment. Fire officials are actively working to contain and extinguish them, and no structures are currently threatened.

Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District #1 is coordinating with Union Pacific and other responding agencies to ensure the safety of residents and first responders.

Residents are urged to avoid the area to allow emergency crews clear access. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
