Homebrews have taken over expo. Every year Marco helps grow this hugely creative and fun part of the community with a bigger and bigger tent. This year when I talked to Aaron from fast pinball he winked and said, maybe in a couple years this is a homebrew expo and we ALSO have a stern booth. We’ll be doing a story on some of these but in the meantime enjoy my landscape shots of some ridiculously fun homemade games with themes we would never see otherwise.

This year’s homebrew awards were given out by Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat, who revealed (after playing the homebrew version) that big trouble in little china was a huge inspo for his game. That moment, and a million more like it are why this area is so cool. To see the corporate creatives who make games mix with the madcap homebrewers is really special. Now stop making me cry. FINISH HIM

is fun not just because you get to see whatever new hotness is coming out, BUT ALSO because there are so many golden oldies out there we never get to play back home. Hankins, Gottliebs, those weird Spanish games… what are yall lookin forward to playing?

Happy birthday Nudge! Four years ago, I picked this day to start nudge so I’d always have something to look forward to on my birthday instead of being melancholy about the years passing. It’s awesome to look back and see what we have all built together. I can’t wait to see what comes next. You won’t believe what comes next.
