I’m BEYOND excited to share that I was cast and interviewed for Pader Xiong's Home-land: Hmong American Women, a short documentary film that will have its West Coast premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival on May 3, 2025! 🎞️🎬

This year marks 50 years since the Hmong people resettled in America after fleeing persecution and the Vietnam War’s Secret War. The film features the stories of five Hmong women—myself, Rosanna Yang, Emily Yang, Jouapag Lee, and Kho Lor—as we share our personal journeys, aspirations, and what it means to create our own Home-land in America. The film also includes a deeply personal moment of the filmmaker being dressed in traditional Hmong attire by her mother, honoring the ties between generations.

It’s an honor to be part of this project, and I’d love for you to join us in celebrating it at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. If you're in LA on May 3, come watch!

Sunday's The Social X Change HAVEN Thriving Together workshop was something special!

The gathering became a space of deep transformation, raw honesty, and collective healing. Every single person in the room shared a piece of their story, and together, we unraveled the ways we were taught to dismiss our bodies, ignore our needs, and silence our inner voices.

We spoke about the inherited narratives that told us our worth was tied to how much we could endure rather than how well we could care for ourselves. We explored the patterns of self-sacrifice, the disconnect between mind and body, and the quiet yet powerful work of rewiring our brains to see our bodies not as burdens, but as sacred homes—temples worthy of love, respect, and deep nourishment.

Through conversation, reflection, and the safety of community, we took steps toward reclaiming our bodies as our own. We acknowledged the pain, but we also celebrated the perseverance. The possibility of self-trust. The possibility of listening to what our bodies have been trying to tell us all along.

To every woman who showed up, who shared, who held space—you are seen, you are valued, and you are never alone in this journey. HAVEN is more than a gathering; it is a movement of unlearning and becoming. And I am so incredibly grateful for all of you.

Huge thanks to Chong Hawj and Linda Xiong for all their help with the event. Linda who did all the decorations and added the vibes. And deepest gratitude for HAVEN Therapist Dani Adele, MFT who provided safety and comfort for all of us as we healed together.

Here’s to continued healing. Here’s to honoring ourselves. Here’s to HAVEN! 🥂

I absolutely love what I do.

🌸 Exciting News!!!🌿

Last month, we SOLD OUT of the first HAVEN Thriving Together women's wellness workshop. The space was protected and powerful, safe and supportive, empowering and energizing! We laughed, learned, and shared so much love in just one room!

We are so excited to launch our second workshop in the limited pilot series featuring Dani Adele!

Dani is a Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in trauma-informed care, substance use recovery and work with individuals, couples, and families. Dani is also a sexual health advocate and community leader passionate about reclaiming personal stories. Her journey of self-acceptance and empowerment has been shaped by overcoming cultural expectations and embracing transformative practices.

“This workshop offers a safe, playful, and supportive space for women to explore their sexuality, challenge outdated narratives, and embrace their bodies. Expect engaging discussions, practical exercises, and creative activities focusing on sexual health, erogenous zones, consent, and communication. This is YOUR space to be heard, find joy, and leave empowered with practical insights to take charge of your sexual well-being. Join me on this transformative journey!” - Dani Thao

Join The Social X Change HAVEN to access the workshop! Limited to the first 30 women who registers! 🌺🌿

Learning my native language is more than just remembering words, articulating them, and writing them - it’s about reclaiming my identity, honoring my parents, and keeping our culture alive. Every word carries the weight of so many Hmong generations who fought to tell their stories.

This was an act of self love - a gift to myself, my community, and the next generations after me.

Don’t let your language fade. Speak it, learn it, pass it on. Your history is worth it.

YOU are worth it.

October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month—a time to come together, to honor those we've lost, to celebrate those in recovery, and to shine a light on the darkness that substance abuse brings into so many lives. It's not just about preventing substance use or reducing harm. It’s about the silent battles fought every day by individuals and families who live through the storm of addiction.

This was the first time I opened up about my own journey—about being a "love addict" or a codependent, and the weight of trying to save someone I loved from the toxic cycle of alcohol and substance use. It’s a type of heartache you can’t put into words, watching someone drown and not knowing if your help is lifting them up or pulling them under. So many of us know that feeling, that deep ache of wanting to save someone but not knowing how, or even if you can.

But the truth is, it’s never too late to reach out for help. It’s never too late to heal. And in that journey, we often have to face the hardest truth of all: that we, too, need saving. We get tangled up in what’s ours to carry and what’s not. And that untangling hurts. It’s messy. But it’s also where we find our strength. It’s where we begin to heal, and in doing so, we honor the love we carry for those still struggling, and for ourselves.

Let this month be a reminder that no matter where you are on this journey—whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone who is, or still searching for answers—you are not alone. We are all in this together, and there is always hope. Always.
