I've always dreamed of being behind the scenes at a TEDx event and helping make it successful.

Tonight, I finally got to live that dream as part of the TEDxMinneapolis team.

I laughed, cried, and learned a whole lot from all the speakers of TEDxMinneapolis: Climate of Change. My heart is soooo full and my brain is sooo happy.

What a night! ❤️

Exciting news! 🙏🏽🏆

I'm honored to share that our community talk show Nyob Zoo Ramsey County received the 2026 Minnesota Association of Government Communicators' Northern Lights Award for the category of Best Interview, Talk Show or News Magazine Programming.

What started as a pilot at the end of 2024 has grown into a permanent county program, now having reached 1M+ views through culturally grounded, in-language conversations for our Hmong community.

Along the way, we've produced 40+ episodes, seen engagement grow year after year, and helped increase Hmong residents' awareness and use of county services—including an 850% increase in Hmong-language service requests at one service center in just a few months.

This award shows that when people feel seen, heard, and represented, trust grows.

One of the most memorable conversations was our Youth Justice Transformation episode. It became our fastest-growing episode, reaching more than 50,000+ views in just two weeks! More than the numbers, it showed that our community connects with honest, culturally grounded conversations about complex systems across all races and ethnicities. By centering lived experience alongside professional expertise, we helped make youth justice more understandable, relatable, and accessible.

It's a OFFICIALLY a wrap on AAJA! 👏🏽

One of my favorite quotes from this week: "It's an honor, and sometimes it's a burden...but ultimately it's a responsibility."

Journalism isn't just about telling stories, but it's about earning people's trust, telling the truth, and asking the right questions. And that requires more listening than talking.

I'm leaving AAJA feeling super grateful, very much challenged, and even more committed to my ultimate purpose in life.

AAJA Day 2 ❤️

Another day full of growing my brain! Today I attended a full day of meaningful discussions:

1) How journalists covered the ICE operations in Minnesota while verifying information, handling misinformation, and making quick decisions during breaking news.

2) How strong community partnerships are built through trust, listening, and working together with the people you serve.

3) Learned about new research on Asian Americans that challenges stereotypes and highlights the diversity and different experiences within our communities.

4) Talked about the growth of AAPI representation in pop culture and how journalists can cover it with more context and cultural understanding.

5) Discussed how to report on aging, caregiving, and end-of-life topics with empathy while understanding the cultural values and beliefs within AAPI communities.
