We’re EXCITED to share that, in addition to earning first place recognition from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators for our DEI advancement in the community...our tv show also won Best of Category in “Best Podcast Series” from the National Association of County Information Officers!

So blessed to have our work be recognized within our first year of launching on both a state and national level! 🙏🏼 Huge gratitude to Ramsey County, Minnesota, our partner Mitch Lee of 3HmongTV 3HBC, and every single person who made this possible for our community.

Our goal is to expand into additional media platforms and multiple languages, ensuring we can reach and engage all communities!

We won an award! 🏆🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’m honored to share that Ramsey County, Minnesota and 3HmongTV received the 2025 Northern Lights Award from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators in the DEI category for our TV show “Nyob Zoo Ramsey County," which recognizes outstanding work in government communications.

Ramsey County launched its first-ever in-language Cultural and Community Media pilot program, partnering with 3HBC to help lessen communication gaps with our richly diverse communities.

Our first episode aired in October 2024, spotlighting the incredible work of our Hmong Navigators and Service Centers. In just the first six months, the series gained over 100,000 views across all broadcast platforms. Today, we’ve surpassed 200,000 total views! A true testament to the power of inclusive, culturally rooted media.

🙏🏽 Thank you to Ramsey County, Mitch Lee at 3HmongTV, and every single person who helped pave the way for community and cultural media. This award is for all of us!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE being in community with these women. It meant the world to be able to host and moderate a Talkback for SIXPACK, a play by Katie Ka Vang that focused on community healing, cultural identity, intergenerational experiences, and complex relationships. The way each woman held space for one another, and the engagement of the audience formulated a conversation worth having in every room.

Thank you to playwright, Katie Ka Vang, guest panelist State Representative Kaohly Vang Her, and the cast Dorothy Vang, Ashley Horiuchi, Phasoua Vang, and Pagnia Xyooj for the depth, stories, perspectives, and brilliance you brought onto the stage. So many moments of learning for me, and I'm forever grateful to be sharing space with each of you.

Thank you to one of my most cherished friends, Dani Adele, for being my date to the show and always supporting and loving me. You're so important to me! 🙏🏾

Huge shout-out to Christina Baldwin, Isa Tejeda, Alison Ruth, Miranda Shunkwiler, and everyone else at The Jungle Theater for this partnership and collaboration. SIXPACK means so much to so many of us, and being able to experience it three times this month still brought me to tears and made me laugh out loud every time.

For those interested, don't snooze. You'll never get to see it again, and trust me...you won't regret it if you go. But you will if you don't! SIXPACK ends this week!!

Still feeling the warmth from today’s HAVEN Thriving Together: Women’s Wellness Workshop series.

I’m so grateful for this incredible community! These women showed up fully and held space for each other in such honest, beautiful, and powerful ways.

Deepest thanks to Pam Yang Lmft for guiding us through today’s self care session with so much wisdom and compassion. And to Acha Koo, thank you for closing our circle with your soul soothing healing anthem. It was the perfect way to end our time together!

To my dear friends who always show up, helping set the vibe, nourish the space, and pour love into every detail — Linda Xiong, Npauj Lis, and Chong Hawj, I appreciate you, and could not do this without you!

(Missing half of the beautiful women who left before I remembered to take this group photo).

Here’s to choosing ourselves, again and again and again!!! 🌿💫

Seeing this deeply emotional, hilariously honest, and powerfully relatable show for the second time this weekend reaffirmed just how important community, generational resilience, cultural identity, and the strength of Hmong women truly are. The entire cast of phenomenal actresses completely blew us away!

Workshop #3: "Recharge. Refuel. Reconnect. A Guide to Self and Soul Care" w/ Pam Yang Lmft, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Transformation Counseling and Training. She provides culturally responsive therapy for individuals, couples, and families with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. She also has a podcast His Purpose Prevails where she blends faith and mental health covering themes such as divorce, grief, emotional healing, and self-worth.

"I'm excited to share how self-care is a vital component and task in resiliency. We all have struggled and sometimes, felt like we had no way out or didn't know what to do. But we overcame. Through our struggles, we have gained strength, clarity, and grit. We got knocked down, and got back up again, 7..8...or 100 times. We took care of ourselves when no one else would. We had no other choice but to press on, while frequently taking care of others.

Self-care is not limited to caring for ourselves physically, but also psychologically, spiritually, emotionally, personally, and professionally. Self-care is often used to address and reduce stress, however, it is also a great tool to prevent burnout and stress. I hope you will join me in finding new ways to take care of yourself, through self-care, and build on the resiliency already within you!"

ABOUT OUR PANELIST: Sheng Elizabeth Lor is a Hmong American cultural media producer, community organizer, and founder of The Social X Change Project—a platform that uses conversation, creativity, and connection to help communities heal, grow, and thrive.

With a background in psychology, sociology, and mental health counseling, Sheng spent nearly a decade working in social work and social services before shifting her focus to community impact through media and social justice advocacy.

She is currently the community media specialist and producer of Nyob Zoo Ramsey County, the county’s first in-language cultural TV program serving Hmong residents, with plans to expand into other languages. Access to news, information, and resources is power.

Through The Social X Change Project, Sheng leads initiatives that uplift artists, changemakers, and women. In the past few years, she has focused on expanding The Social X Change Project to different areas such as NETWORK, CREATIVES, WOMEN, and more recently HAVEN, a wellness group for women that meets monthly with licensed therapists to grow, heal, and have fun together.

She is also the co-founder of HmongFest in Eau Claire and has radically advocated for preserving Hmong history and language in school districts in Wisconsin. Sheng believes in healing intergenerational trauma and building stronger communities—through love, community building, and telling stories that set us free.

I’m BEYOND excited to share that I was cast and interviewed for Pader Xiong's Home-land: Hmong American Women, a short documentary film that will have its West Coast premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival on May 3, 2025! 🎞️🎬

This year marks 50 years since the Hmong people resettled in America after fleeing persecution and the Vietnam War’s Secret War. The film features the stories of five Hmong women—myself, Rosanna Yang, Emily Yang, Jouapag Lee, and Kho Lor—as we share our personal journeys, aspirations, and what it means to create our own Home-land in America. The film also includes a deeply personal moment of the filmmaker being dressed in traditional Hmong attire by her mother, honoring the ties between generations.

It’s an honor to be part of this project, and I’d love for you to join us in celebrating it at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. If you're in LA on May 3, come watch!
