Each August, Earth plows through a dusty wake left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle, a 26-kilometer-wide ball of ice and rock orbiting the Sun every 133 years.

What happens next?
The Perseids — one of the brightest and most anticipated meteor showers of the year — ignite our skies.

🔥 Why You Should Watch This Year:
• Up to 100 meteors per hour streaking through the night
• Some produce brilliant fireballs — meteors that explode in a flash brighter than Venus
• Long trails glowing in vivid colors: green, orange, blue, even purple
• And this year? The Moon will be out of the way, giving us perfect dark-sky conditions for an unforgettable view.

🔭 Best Viewing Tips:
• Head away from city lights — rural or mountainous areas offer the clearest skies
• Look northeast after midnight — no telescope needed
• Let your eyes adjust for 20–30 minutes in the dark
• Bring a blanket, lie back… and just watch the sky fall

First responders dedicate their lives to save lives. They are the people who run toward a crisis while the rest of the world flees.

Serving as a day of gratitude, TODAY we pay tribute to their endless hours and around the clock service provided to their communities. As one of the most dangerous jobs in the country, the day also pays tribute to the fallen first responders.

Thank you goes out today and everyday to my friends who dedicate their lives to save lives.
