Ogden Valley Forum "SPEAK UP FOR WHAT YOU WANT, OR TAKE WHAT YOU GET!" About Ogden Valley Utah Forum

Many changes are occurring in and around our valley.

Whether you are a long term and full time resident, or a more recent part time transplant, these many changes and issues will effect us all. Growth, traffic and Sewage and water issues are a huge concern and have been limited largely to the north side of the valley, but there are now several developments proposed on the South side. Large developments that are in various stages of planning and appr

oval from the County. This venue is intended to serve as a non-partisan public community forum, providing citizens of Ogden Valley Utah a cyber focal point within which to discuss, debate and rant about any and all local governmental policies and issues in and around Huntsville, Eden and Liberty, Utah. Users are invited to visit, chat, argue, bicker, promote and co-ordinate political events, post, link and read articles, and whatever else -- so long as they observe a reasonable level of civility and decorum. For those folks new to blogging, consider this blog a cyber "letters-to-editor" venue, with a lot more of a free-wheeling attitude than you'll find in your hometown newspaper. If you want to put in your $.02, just post your own comments with the comments button. The comments interface is similar to the one you probably use for regular email. For those of you more familiar with the ways of the blogosphere, you already know the drill, so have at it and enjoy.

Homeowners in high wildfire risk areas should expect home assessments and a new fee once HB48 Wildland Urban Interface Modifications goes into effect in January 2026.

The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands will inspect homes within the boundary for fire risk, and property owners will pay a fee based on their risk and square footage, which will cover the cost of the program and lot assessments.

Our Latest Post

We’ve just shared our latest update, which includes some of the screenshots from Janet Wampler’s X account that had previously been removed from other local pages.

Because those deletions became part of the larger conversation about censorship, we felt it was important to make them available again. Our goal is to ensure that residents have access to the full context and can form their own opinions based on all of the information, not just what remains after moderation.

Take a look, and as always, we encourage respectful discussion.

From Chris Williams:

Why I Support Shanna Francis for Mayor

As this election has unfolded, I’ve become more convinced that Shanna Francis is the right choice to serve as our first mayor.

Shanna is a longtime advocate for Ogden Valley and its residents. She has consistently stood up for our community and has demonstrated that she will put residents’ interests first. Unlike her opponent, who often shifts positions to appeal to whichever audience she is addressing, Shanna has remained steady, principled, and transparent.

Her values align with Utah’s conservative roots—not as a “Republican in Name Only,” but as someone who truly understands and represents our community’s priorities. She is not beholden to local developers or tied at the hip to Weber County, which are among the biggest reasons we even needed to form a new city.

Admittedly, she didn’t perform as well in the debates as her opponent, who has marketing expertise and polish on her side. But debates are about style; leadership is about substance. Shanna’s strength lies in her character, her integrity, and her proven record of advocacy—not in rehearsed talking points.

Shanna is well educated and experienced, and her record shows she won’t just say the right things at the right time to win votes. Sadly, her opponent’s team has tried to twist Shanna’s greatest strengths into weaknesses, painting her authenticity and independence as flaws. But that only underscores how rare it is to find a candidate who is genuine and not swayed by outside influences.

She doesn’t need to rely on questionable ties or large donations to bolster her credibility—she has earned it through her service and her commitment to residents.
I believe Ogden Valley deserves a mayor who is genuine, independent, and committed to residents above all else. For me, that leader is Shanna Francis.
