The Rockingham County Arts Council is putting out a call for a muralist. Please share with anyone you think might be interested!

We're so excited to be commissioning a historical mural in the pedestrian tunnel by the Madison-Mayodan Rec Center as part of readying it as a gateway to the future Washington Mills Park and the Mayo River.

The link above has detailing the scope, timeline, and submission process. The short version: it's an open call, submissions are due August 22, and a panel will select the artist. To apply, you only need a portfolio link and a short statement of interest. No proposed design is required at this stage.

One thing to flag upfront: this project operates on a grant timeline. Painting begins October 1 and wraps by early November, so it requires a real commitment over a compressed fall. If you want to see the tunnel before deciding, just let me know and I'll arrange a visit.
