Week One: Bravery Can Look Like Showing Up
I wanted to post about my teacher evaluations from spring and summer 2025. But I haven’t had the courage to read them. In this season, I am holding the duality of loving my job and knowing there will always be someone who thinks I’m unqualified to be here. I am hoping that I will look back on this period of my academic career as a proud little sister. Not because I out-published everyone, but because when I had the opportunity to harden, I softened my heart instead. For now, I am committed to showing up every day. Often, quietly and deeply reflective, sometimes in pieces and not always whole, but at least we are here.

The taboo we don’t talk about:
Death and grief
“the person you miss would not want to be the reason you stopped tasting food. learning to let a good day be good is not abandonment. it is respect for the life you still have to live”. Ayushi Thakkar (substack)

What a gift to celebrate your big bright smile and amazing hugs. A birthday filled with yummy food, laughter, yoga, and community. Thank you for opening your day with us and letting us celebrate you! I hope the day brought you the same warmth you bring my heart. ♥️ Happy Birthday @⁨Lujain⁩!! 🎉 Here’s to more yoga sessions, yummy food, and memories worth a lifetime of friendship.

In April I started to live in a truth I thought would never come to me. That truth is core to who I am, and I am realigning with it. Fear once determined too many of my decisions. I played small because I was deeply afraid. I am learning how to stop fear from bleeding on everything I imagine. I’m learning to stand in my divine truth, especially when it’s messy. I would rather live in that truth without opportunity than live in a fear of loosing things never meant for me.

Coffee Sarap.
In a world unable to agree on what community love feels like. I write this to you as I sit behind a bright orange velvet couch surrounded by the most amazing kind loving humans I know. A simple couch keeping shared secrets and love stories, hugging everyone who sits here while drinking their iced Ube Latte. DJ Chinola bringing us together to celebrate community on a sunny Sunday in Denver. They create the perfect playlist that grounds our laughter, shared hugs, and dancing. The smell of espresso beans and essential oils from Lola Severina fill the air. Summer feels like it is slowly slipping away but the love summer brought us feels strong enough to last us through the seasons. As the music ends, cheers fill the air as the community gives each other well wishes for the week ahead. People take photos to remember a day they do not want to forget. A friend orders one last coffee for the road. Pride, love, and affirmations fill the space as the orange couch clears. As we all head into another work week, most might forget the orange couch that held us as we created memories we will keep forever. But I’ll never forget the coffee shared, laughs and hugs, on a cool Sunday afternoon at Coffee Sarap where for a couple of hours we felt at home. If you find yourself in RiNO, I hope you come wish the wonderful humans at Sarap well wishes. That you take a moment and sip your coffee on the orange couch. Leave your secrets and love stories there. Your wildest dreams might come true because you’ll always leave with memories shared in a place that always feels like home.
