SAD NEWS: Author and poet Richard L. Tierney passed away last Monday night at the age of 85. He was best known for his Simon of Gitta and John Taggart stories. In addition to his horror and sword & sorcery fiction, his poetry was excellent, too -- in 2010, he was nominated for the Science Fiction Poetry Association’s Grandmaster Award.

To honor the passing of "Eldritchard", I'm lowering the price for "Sorcery Against Caesar" (all the Simon of Gitta tales to date) to 99 cents for the next week (ends Wednesday Feb 9th). If you've ever wanted to read his Cthulhu-Mythos-in-Ancient-Rome stories, now's your best chance.

Here's some Averoigne artwork from Clark Ashton Smith's "The Enchantress of Sylaire," by no less an artist than the legendary Margaret Brundage! It accompanied the story's first publication in the July 1941 issue of "Weird Tales". Here the poet Anselme receives from Malachie, the wizard-werewolf, the Mirror of Reality, in which a person true nature is revealed in the reflection.
