Candidate Filing Deadline Nears for April 7 Municipal Election

Candidate filing for the April 7, 2026, municipal election ends at the close of business Tuesday, Dec. 30, for all local towns and governing boards in the county.

Those interested in running for city council seats in Baring, Edina, Hurdland, Knox City, Newark and Novelty must file with their respective city offices before the deadline. The same applies to those seeking positions on county boards, including the Knox County Water Supply District No. 1, Knox County Ambulance District, Knox County Health Department, Knox County Library Board and Knox County Nursing Home District Board.

Anyone wishing to be placed on the ballot should file as soon as possible. Only two business days remain—Monday and Tuesday—to complete the process.
