Chaudhry confirmed that the Edison Police Department was informed of the raid. “Our police department was notified that Immigration Enforcement would be in the area today. No further detailed information was provided. Our officers adhere to the current guidelines, specifically Attorney General Law Enforcement Directive No. 2018-6v2, which does not permit our police department to be involved in ICE operations.”

I can’t even touch it,” said Orsogna, whose home lies near the tree. “I’ve contacted the Edison Department of Public Works, and they say it’s PSE&G’s responsibility because of the wires. Then PSE&G tells me it’s the town’s problem because it’s a township tree. Meanwhile, the tree is literally rotting in front of my house.”
