Welcome to Peaceful Life Radio! Our podcast is designed to help you navigate the second half of your life with wisdom, purpose, and grace. Each week we promise a new topic curated to address a myriad of needs and ideas relevant to those celebrating the second half of their lives. Some of our topics will be serious like, hospice care and end of life experiences. Some will be fun such as what it's like to fulfill a lifelong dream by owning a candy store. Some will be practical like what you should consider before buying that RV and going out to see the USA. We invite guests who are authors and experts, as well as those who have had second half of life experiences and have a story to tell. You will find us on most podcast platforms and YouTube, and each release will be posted on this FB page as well as our website at www.peacefulliferadio.com

Our History
David Lowry and I (Don Drew) have been the best of friends since around 2006 when we were both professors and later college deans together. As we got closer to the end of our professional careers we began to ask ourselves what's next? David had a lifetime of experience in radio and later as a podcaster and he approached me in February of 2024 to see if I would be interested in co-hosting a podcast with him. David's background is as an organizational communications professor with special interest in peacemaking. I'm more of an organization development type with several areas of specialization including motivation, human relations, and what I call the human side of enterprise. I knew nothing about podcasting. For 2024, we produced around 35 shows covering a number of topics we have discovered are meaningful to people who are trying to find more peace for their lives. But when we met in early 2025 to discuss where we were going with the podcast, we decided most of our listeners were over 50 and wanting to hear about topics relevant to their experience.
To be completely transparent, David and I are big fans of author Richard Rohr in general, and his treatment of first half of life versus second half of life needs and experiences in his book "Falling Upward". Rohr's point is that in the first half of life, we spend most of our time and energy following scripts given to us by our parents and society. It's in the second half of life that we have a new opportunity to reexamine these scripts, or old maps, and redirect our lives in meaningful ways as needed. Based on these ideas, we try to come up with questions, situations, and needs that are a common to most of us over 50 at some point.
What you can expect to hear are open and honest questions asked to ourselves and our guests, and open and honest responses that are not pre-scripted. What you will hear is a conversation. Each will last about 25 minutes and do this to make it a drive time listen. Thanks for listening and just as important we want you to communicate back to us. Tell us what you think about one of our topics. All we ask is that you be respectful. None of our guests or paid, nor do they pay us to be on our programs. Ask us questions! And finally, tell us what you want to hear on our podcast. We are always needing fresh ideas and topics, and after 50 shows and about 20 others currently scheduled, we could use more ideas.
