Mariah Vanzant joined UCentral in 2024 as a producer and technical director.

Vanzant plans to complete her degree this summer while pursuing an internship.

UCentral has impacted Vanzant by preparing her with necessary skills. “It has really taught me everything I know about producing, technical directing, or just directing in general, that I really haven’t gotten to learn from any of my classes,” Vanzant said.

Isabel Contreras joined UCentral in the spring of 2023. She has worked as a multimedia journalist and social media producer.

Contreras plans to continue producing digital content as she finishes her degree this summer.

UCentral made an impact on Contreras, giving her the skills to succeed. “UCentral allowed me to gain experience through different opportunities and provided me with the skills to be successful in the future,” Contreras said.

Ian Nikkel joined UCentral in the fall of 2023 and started as a floor director before becoming a sports anchor and main anchor.

Nikkel will begin his career as a multimedia journalist at FOX 23 in Tulsa.

UCentral made a big impact on his life because it gave him a new opportunity. “UCentral and UCO was my second chance and they let me take full advantage of it,” Nikkel said.

Ben Kwadu joined UCentral in 2023 and has had various positions like audio technician, camera operator, teleprompter operator, sports anchor and reporter.

Kwadu is currently in Berlin, Germany to study journalism through the RIAS Berlin Kommission program. Once he returns to the United States, Kwadu hopes to find a job as a photographer or content creator for a sports team, sports program or media company.

UCentral’s made a pivotal shift on Kwadu’s college journey. “It shifted my focus and showed me that a career working within media of all aspects was actually a possibility. It taught me to take chances and step up in the times that matter the most,” Kwadu said.

Dylan Hibbard joined UCentral in the spring of 2024 and has since been a sports anchor. Hibbard plans to find work within the sports media industry after graduation.

UCentral has significantly impacted Hibbard by providing networking opportunities.

“It has made an immense impact on me and has given me so many opportunities in front of the camera, while building great relationships and contacts,” Hibbard said.

BREAKING: Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, according to a statement released by his office Sunday.

Last week, Biden was evaluated for urinary symptoms, which led to the discovery of a prostate nodule. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone.
