Learned a golden fu***ng gem from Justin Colletti from Sonicscoop, setting your limiter first in the mastering chain then doing processing after makes a world of difference.

Running any kind of business venture can be very scary, trust me I know personally. So today during my downtime at my day job, I've been putting together a game plan to help in the studio, and promote the studio business and grow it in general.

It's hard to know where you're going without a roadmap, so spent most of my day figuring out how to go about hiring independent contractors and what paperwork is involved and going over numbers.

I know this is all just hear say, but hopefully soon I will have an assistant to help, so I can focus more on the creative side of the music process.

I know I haven't done mixing tips in awhile, I'm sorry for that I've been mainly focused on mixing.

But I wanted to post a huge piece of advice, that has followed me everywhere I go.

"Be a student, if you act like you don't know anything you will learn the world."

By being able to say you don't know something and seeking on how to obtain that knowledge your skills, in whatever you're doing in life will constantly improve.

Mix Tip Tuesday🎵

Just wanted to post a simple tip for today that can be extremely useful. When eqing and after I compress I love to use a dynamic eq on my busses when mixing top down. Top down mixing is the process of working backwards to get to your individual tracks, so usually I will use Subtractive EQ, then compress, then additive or color EQ, then I will use a Dynamic EQ afterwords.

By using a Dynamic EQ you can tame harsh resonances by gently compressing them, and reducing the dynamic range gently on the problem areas. Very useful tool, my favorite free Dynamic EQ is TDR Nova overall it's just extremely easy to use.
