Normally, last week's show would have been a Triple Play Saturday, but we skipped it to pay tribute to the artists who received an IBMA Best of Bluegrass award and to musicians from the greater St. Louis area. To make up for it, we're doing something special this week.

One of the best things about bluegrass is how, in addition to releasing their own albums, musicians are often invited to make guest appearances on other musicians' recordings, either as an instrumentalist or a duet partner. This week, we will do a deep dive into the guest appearance catalog of five artists, featuring their collaborations on recordings other than their own: Tim O'Brien, Del McCoury, Sam Bush, Molly Tuttle, and Billy Strings. On Thursday night, the International Bluegrass Music Association presented its annual IBMA Awards at the World of Bluegrass Conference in Chattanooga, Tenn. In an awards ceremony hosted by Alison Brown and Steve Martin, the IBMA recognized the artists whose music and other contributions were selected by their peers as "The Best in Bluegrass for 2025."

During the first hour, we will feature the music of the 2025 IBMA Awards recipients. (Hey, if IBMA singles them out as "the best," who am I to argue?) During the second hour ... I don't know yet. Today was supposed to be a Triple Play Saturday, but I think I'll punt that to next week when ... dare I? ... I could do the first-ever Quadruple Play Saturday! You'll have to tune in to find out.
