In early January I usually set up some sort of goal, not the traditional ones like exercise, diet, finances…etc. those things usually fall into place with the goals I set for myself.
Last year- expand the garden. You see- I get more exercise tending to it, my diet gets better when I eat what I harvest, and I save money by growing my own food!
This year I proclaimed, “I’m going to teach myself the science of fermenting foods!”. Ray said, “baby you already do that with sourdough!” He’s not wrong- but that is extent of my knowledge of fermentation. But I have a little bit of a science brain, food science intrigues me.
Today I jumped into kombucha. I’ve been studying for a month now. Next will be kimchi. I think I may understand it. I certainly understand the benefits of eating fermented foods.
Here’s to my 2025 goal of food preservation and fermentation! I try will “exercise” my brain, it will save me money by making my own instead buying it- kombucha is expensive! And it will certainly benefit my health!
