Mayor Paul Choate announced earlier this week that El Dorado has been designated as one of several center points in efforts by the Arkansas 250 Commission to organize semi-quincentennial celebrations in local communities.

In 2026, America will commemorate its 250th birthday and to prepare for the milestone, El Dorado Mayor Paul Choate said he is forming a committee to coordinate the city's participation in coordinating celebrations across the state and the nation.

El Dorado will open its cross country season on Saturday at the Billies Invitational in Monticello. Parkers Chapel, Junction City, Smackover and West Side Christian are all scheduled to run in the Lori McDougald Memorial Invitational at Moro Bay.
