Erica Shepherd Claims First Professional Win at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout
Epson Tour sophomore Erica Shepherd’s final round was nothing like she expected it. Sitting three shots behind the lead heading into Championship Sunday’s final round, the Indiana native felt some nerves while on the quest to claim the first victory of her young professional career.
“I actually am proud of myself. I do not know if I have ever said that before, but like I have said, it has been such a journey, and succeeding in pro golf has definitely not been easy for me,” said Shepherd.
The 24-year-old carded four birdies on the round to climb to the top of the leaderboard. The Duke University alumna found birdies on holes three and six, rounding the turn with a 2-under 34 on her front nine. Shepherd continued her birdie streak, sinking a putt on the par-5 14, followed by a clutch 7-foot birdie on 18 green in front of a crowd to secure her first professional win. Shepherd is the first left-handed player to win an Epson Tour event.

At 656 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
El Dorado, moving north at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
El Dorado, Smackover, Norphlet, Calion and Kenova.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

The second round of the tenth annual Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout was suspended due to darkness on Saturday,
September 20, at 6:52 p.m. local Ume, with 14 groups sUll on the golf course. Athletes returned for a 7:30 a.m. local time
start to conUnue play on Sunday morning.
The leaderboard stayed consistent, with Becca Huffer finishing her second round at 4-under total to sit at the top of the
leaderboard heading into round three. Huffer played her final three holes, making a bogey on her last hole, the par-4
ninth hole, to sign for a 2-under 70. Gina Kim follows close behind, siXng one shot off the lead in solo second aYer
carding an even par 72 in her second round. off slow, making pars unUl the seventh hole, where she found her first
birdie.
62 athletes made the cut aYer round two concluded, and players headed right back on the course as round three began
at 10:15 a.m. local Ume.

Former El Dorado Mayor, Veronica Smith - Creer has reached a plea agreement with Prosecutors. The plea drops the original charge to Obstruction of Operations, a misdemeanor.
Creer will pay a $500.00 fine, but will serve no jail time.
