What if every fourth grader knew they had the power to change the world? Thanks to a generous donation from the Tim Underwood Memorial Foundation, and the passion of Kansas author Sierra Marie Bonn, students are discovering the innovators within themselves — one book at a time.
The title of her book is ‘Innovators: Women in History Who Made Positive Contributions to STEAM’.
Bonn recently visited Grandview Elementary where she gave a presentation and personally signed books for students in Mr. Shum and Mrs. Barker’s fourth grade classrooms.
“Fourth grade is the critical age where students begin to doubt their own potential to succeed in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. That doubt affects their entire future,” said Bonn.
“I want every student to know they are the next generation of innovators, and in order for them to do that, students must be encouraged at a young age and shown that they are capable.”
