Buddy & Pat Olchefski bought this building with the idea of having a venue for musicians to play & record - & after a year & a half of gutting & rebuilding the space, the concept of also having my own gallery also evolved into what is presently called the OM Room Gallery (O for Olchefski & M for Monk Drums (handmade drums)). The magic is happening with lots of wonderful & talented artists/musician

Meet the speakers of Sound Decisions! Chris Castle is an entertainment lawyer and the founder of Christian Castle Attorneys. He founded his firm in Los Angeles in 2005 and moved the firm to Austin in 2011. He works on a variety of transactional matters in the nexus of music, technology and policy. He is admitted to the bar in California and Texas, the bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Chris is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and was the director of the Texas Entertainment Law Institute. He has testified against speculative ticketing at the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and on artist rights issues at the UK Parliament. Chris briefed the National Association of Attorneys General about brand sponsored piracy and has spoken at Congressional seminars.
Chris is co-founder of the Artist Rights Symposium, the founder of the Artist Rights Institute, and writes the blogs Music Tech Policy and Music Tech Solutions.

Meet the Sound Decisions Speakers! Gwendolyn Seale is a 2016 graduate of SMU Dedman School of Law and practices entertainment law at Mike Tolleson and Associates in Austin, Texas. While at SMU, she interned at two music venues in the Dallas Deep Ellum district, Trees and The Bomb Factory, with responsibilities that included assisting with social media accounts, merchandise sales and reviewing performance contracts. During her final year of law school, she also managed a band based in Austin. Currently, at Mike Tolleson and Associates, she drafts and negotiates contracts related to music, film and sports entertainment, and assists clients with their copyright and trademark registration needs.

In addition to her practice, Gwen has published articles and presented Continuing Legal Education Courses on topics such as YouTube’s monetization policies, legal issues surrounding music festivals and the evidentiary significance of emojis.

Coming to Star City Studios in just under a month, the Tim May and Steve Smith duo brings an evening of original and traditional Bluegrass, Roots and Americana, and swing music with mandolinist/vocalist Steve Smith and Nashville guitarist/vocalist Tim May. These two musicians have collaborated in studio and on stages nationwide and now bring their acoustic brand of fire on strings to the Star City Studio stage July 11th.

We knew when we made our decision to open our venue back in 2015, that our space needed to reflect the vibrant, strong, and diverse community of El Paso. Since our doors opened, we’ve been as a diverse event space as one could find -- hosting concerts, curating art galleries, recording music, and more. It’s not just the versatility of our space that separates us, but our willingness to go above and beyond for our customers. We embrace artists on local, national, and international levels, and do our best to make them feel as comfortable as possible in our partnership. With an event space designed for weddings, corporate events, and birthdays, we collaborate with customers to make their event special. It’s been our goal to return the hospitality El Paso has shown us.
