Reuters reporting Pakistan cancelled 21 LNG cargoes under its long-term contract with Italy’s Eni to address excess imports in its gas network. A document from state-owned Pakistan LNG to the Ministry of Energy dated October 22, 2025, stated that 11 cargoes planned for 2026 and 10 for 2027 would be cancelled at the request of gas distributor SNGPL. Only January shipments in 2026 and 2027, and the December 2027 shipment, would be retained to meet peak winter demand.

Reuters - U.S. LNG firms are projected to consume more natural gas than U.S. households for the first time in 2025. Natural gas consumption by LNG exporters increased by 140% between 2019 and 2024. LNG exporters are the fastest-growing source of U.S. gas demand.

Natural gas consumption by U.S. LNG firms looks set to overtake gas use by U.S. households for the first time in 2025, stoking tensions between the export-oriented LNG sector and domestic gas consumers already saddled with record-high energy bills.

Australian Financial Review opinion article notes that Australians fear a gas supply crisis forecast by regulators for almost a decade. Crisis is currently predicted for 2029. Forecasts have not materialized and have continually shifted to later years. Regulator assumptions have been proven wrong in past years. Gladstone LNG exporters have ensured domestic market supply through a heads of agreement with the federal government.

Clawing back gas that was developed for LNG export by investors prepared to risk billions of dollars of capital is not a sustainable solution.

Euractiv reporting EU countries are set to agree on a 2028 deadline for banning Russian gas imports. France, Italy, and Spain raised last-minute concerns regarding legal certainty and a mechanism introduced two months earlier to inspect LNG cargoes that might contain Russian fuel before entry into Europe. The European Commission responded that only about 8% of LNG cargoes, equivalent to 70 to 80 ships per year, would require prior approval, according to three national officials present at a recent diplomatic meeting.

Bloomberg reporting China’s largest turbine manufacturers are lobbying the government to install at least 120 gigawatts of wind power capacity in each of the next five years. Goldwind Science & Technology Co. and Ming Yang Smart Energy Group were among dozens of companies that presented this proposal on Monday at the annual China Wind Power conference in Beijing. The proposed target aims to more than double China’s wind power output by the end of the decade and supports the country’s goal to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

China’s largest turbine makers are lobbying the government to install at least 120 gigawatts of wind power capacity in each of the next five years, an acceleration of the country’s energy transition that would more than double output by the end of the decade.

Bloomberg reporting Egypt has become the largest LNG importer in the Middle East, surpassing Kuwait. Egypt has received 6.46 million tons of LNG so far in 2025 after importing almost none two years earlier. Kuwait has imported 6.44 million tons of LNG in 2025, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.

Egyptian imports of liquefied natural gas have surged over the past two years to become the biggest in the region, overtaking long-term buyer Kuwait.

Saipem announced it had been awarded a new offshore contract by Turkish Petroleum OTC for the third phase of the Sakarya gas field development project in Turkey. Contract value is approximately 1.5 billion USD. Sakarya gas field is located about 170 kilometers off the coast of Filyos, Zonguldak, and is the largest offshore natural gas field discovered in Turkey. Third phase of development includes a new dedicated floating production unit (FPU) fed by 27 wells located in Sakarya and Amasra fields. These wells will be connected by a new trunkline to the onshore facility located in Filyos, on Turkey’s Black Sea coast.
