Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal you’ve never heard of. Uniquely covered in tough, overlapping scales, pangolins eat ants and termites using an extraordinarily long, sticky tongue. They are able to quickly roll themselves up into a tight, safe ball when they feel threatened. Their armor even protects them from the teeth of lions. This design began as a pangolin paper sculpture. I photographed it and then colorized it in Photoshop.

Born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Judy Garland is an iconic American actress. A pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy in the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, was stolen in 2005. The slippers, valued up to $3 million, were recovered in a 2018 FBI sting operation. Renée Zellweger did an incredible job playing Judy in the 2019 film, Judy.

I painted this portrait of Judy and used her actual signature in front of her first name with a photo of the ruby slippers within the letters.
