When drafting new policy for workers and you elicit feedback, you must remember that some employees may disagree with your vision. It is important to remember that it’s not all about you, and what is good for you, but what is good for the entire company. Don’t take feedback personal when you ask for it. Remember not everyone will agree with you, and that’s OK. The last thing any leader wants is a business full of yes people.

When you’re the incident commander don’t go it alone. Build a command team to assist in gathering the best information possible. 2 sets of eyes and 2 sets of ears are better than 1. Once armed with good information, you can put your people where they will make the best tactical difference.

As a leader telling the truth is imperative. When things are going great it is easy to relay that information. When things are not going well it is difficult to express that to the troops, but as a leader you’re responsible to ensure everyone on the team knows what’s happening, If you don’t, it will lead to gossip and groupthink and your subordinates will fill in the blanks with rumors that will be worse than what the news actually is.
