Snow showers are expected overnight for areas north of I-80. With strong westerly wind gusts over 45 mph expected, snow will be whipped around by the wind and possibly leading to periods of low visibilities as well as slick spots on roadways.

11:27 PM SUNDAY: It's absolutely ripping out there with the wind gusts, which will continue all night. Now here comes the snow on radar! Snow will begin in the next couple of hours. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for Chicagoland north of I-90 for up to 2" and blowing snow through the night. Road conditions will become hazardous.

Very strong winds (gusts 45-55 mph) and plummeting temperatures are expected starting early this evening behind a powerful cold front. The strong winds will continue through tonight and Monday morning, slowly easing during the afternoon hours Monday. Some snow showers are also expected overnight into Monday morning, resulting in accumulations of a dusting to locally an inch, mainly north of the I-88/I-290 corridor and in Porter County, Indiana. Be prepared for hazardous driving conditions and the possibility of localized power outages!
