Giving Stand Update – Winter Donation Guidelines ❄️

We are so grateful for the continued generosity shown to the Giving Stand and the Exchange Project. Your support truly makes a difference in our community. 💛
As temperatures drop below freezing, we kindly ask that donors refrain from leaving items that can freeze, including canned goods or foods that are not safe to be stored outdoors in cold weather. At this time, we do not have indoor storage available for items that cannot withstand freezing temperatures.

What we are currently accepting:
*Dry food items
*Paper goods
*Hygiene and personal care products

These items hold up well in colder conditions and help us continue supporting those in need throughout the winter months.

Please also considering making donations to our local food bank.

Thank you for understanding, for sharing what you can, and for helping us keep the Giving Stand safe, usable, and stocked for everyone. We truly appreciate this community. 🤍

✨ A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community ✨

Because of you, the Giving Pantry and Free Farm Stand are fully restocked and ready to continue serving our neighbors.

Over the last few days we’ve watched generosity flow in from every direction. Erin at Sugar Mama Sourdough stepped up with much-needed personal hygiene products. Sitting Bull Farms donated beautiful loaves of sourdough bread. That flew off the shelf! And my friends from work, along with so many caring community members reached out without hesitation.

Today, the shelves are full, the stand is replenished, and hope feels tangible. Every item you donated is already making a difference.

With this kind of heart and support, we’ll keep providing, keep connecting, and keep building the kind of community we can all be proud of.

Thank you, truly. ❤️
Together, we make this happen.

Sunday Reset at the Giving Pantry & Free Farm Stand

As freezing temperatures roll in, we’re doing a little Sunday reset to keep our pantry and farm stand thriving. Cold-sensitive foods and items will be brought in overnight to prevent damage and refreshed again each day so everything stays safe, usable, and ready for our community.

This little corner on 6th Street isn’t just a pantry… it’s a shared lifeline built on trust, generosity, and the belief that free commerce strengthens community. Every time you take what you need or leave what you can, you help keep that cycle alive.

Thank you for showing up for each other, supporting the pantry, and proving that small towns can have the biggest hearts.

Take what you need. Leave what you can.
Together, we make it work.

🌾 ELGIN EXCHANGE PROJECT UPDATE 🌾
Community Helping Community.

It’s Working!

The Giving Pantry on Cedar Street has been a beautiful reminder of what makes Elgin so special. Over the past few weeks, the Exchange has been thriving. Neighbors sharing food, produce, hygiene items, and small essentials to help one another get through the week.

Take what you need, leave what you can isn’t just a phrase here. It’s becoming a true cycle of generosity. Every time the shelves go low, the community fills them again. Every time someone needs a little help, there’s something waiting for them.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, restocked, cleaned, shared posts, and spread kindness.
THIS is Elgin at its best. 💚

Let’s keep the momentum going, together.

Real change doesn’t start in big offices or boardrooms. It starts right here, in our own backyards. Grassroots efforts are the heartbeat of strong communities. They’re built by people who care, who show up, who plant seeds of hope and keep tending them until something beautiful grows.

Every local volunteer, every fundraiser, every cleanup day, every small-town idea that takes root. That’s grassroots in action. It’s neighbors helping neighbors. It’s the community lifting itself up, one small act at a time.

When we work together from the ground up, we remind the world that the best growth doesn’t come from the top. It comes from the ground beneath our feet. 💚

In response to the SNAP funding freeze, and to honor our journey to help food security in our communities, , and will be offering free loaves of sourdough bread to those who need a little extra help this month! We will also be able to offer cakes or cupcakes for a special occasion that might not be possible because of funding shortages. Please let us know how we can help and where we can plan drop offs of bread products.
