Happy Labor Day! We're excited to share Joy To The Burg is back! Today, we're releasing our 2021 album cover. 19 artists are working now on their labor of love for the 2021 album, as a way of supporting their neighbors facing homelessness in the Harrisburg area. They are bringing joy to people on the streets of the 'burg. Album release is scheduled for November 10, 2021. Stay tuned as we release more info throughout the fall!

Geof and I would like to take a few moments to reflect on this past year. We both think often of that week that led up to that Sunday Decision to close the shop and serve out of that Glorious window. They were some very frightening times, so much uncertainty. For two weeks we served out of the front window. None of us had any idea what was about to happen. Schools closed, stay at home orders were put in place, businesses told to close . Only essential workers out on the road. We chose to do only on online orders and pickups twice a week and the orders rolled in. Our loyal customers, our wonderful family and friends were right there with us pushing online orders. Each order went out freshly roasted with a lot of love and a hand written note thanking customers for their support. Some were new customers, some old, some old friends, some new, some friends of a friend. Each one so important. We were so blessed . Things we’re getting ugly in the hospitals so To The Front Line was created. Once again our St.Thomas family came through again and we were able to deliver over 500 pounds of coffee to front line workers throughout central Pennsylvania and beyond. It was amazing. It has truly been a challenging year with tough decisions, a lot of juggling, many prayers, and so much love and support. We dream of a world where we can once again put our arms around someone and welcome them. Until then we stay diligent. I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Once again Geof, Pam, and our little shop in the village staff would like to say, Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Meet Loco Lobo, also know as Sheldon Jones our project organizer. Loco Lobo is featured on the Joy to the Burg 2019 album, singing Christmas for Cowboys, and on the 2020 album singing TOby Keith's Hot Rod Sleigh...it's a foot stomping good time. Sheldon Jones is a great supporter and team member of the Joy to the Burg Steering Committee and Working group. He came up with the idea of the Joy to the Burg album and its support for helping the homeless in Harrisburg PA through Christian Churches United, HELP Ministries, and Susquehanna Harbor Safe Haven. IIM Bands Are Enjoying Their Recording Studio Experience
Immersed In Music bands have now started recording drum tracks at Progressive Enterprises Recording Studio, and they are having a great time! This week, Wingspan and This Band Has No Name experienced the frustrations and joys of this unique musical opportunity: frustrations because, in a studio, musicians hear every detail of what they are playing (and realize it might not be quite right), and joys because of the feeling of satisfaction that comes from achieving something that can be very difficult.
We have the chance to work in this state of the art recording studio, thanks to Joe Trojcak, owner of Progressive Enterprises in Elizabethtown, PA. Joe, along with Jay Kirssin, IIM staff member and producer/recording engineer for Progressive, are giving our students a first class peek into the world of professional recording.
Joe Trojcak is a professor at Lebanon Valley College and an Adjunct Professor at Harrisburg Area Community College, as well as being a multi keyboardist, composer, engineer and owner/operator of Progressive Enterprises Sound Studio. For thirty-two years, Joe's focus has been on creating and developing an outstanding audio space in which musicians are able to capture their music.
Professional Engineers have chosen to work at Progressive because of just how good it sounds. Over the last 34+ years, Progressive Studios has been recording music that has been sold internationally. With over 200+ artists having recorded at Progressive and the monetary investments that have been made in gear and design of the space, it is truly an honor to be able to work in such a room. Voice over work and TV documentaries have also been recorded at Progressive.
Progressive Studios has also developed a unique bridge between small business and education. Students from universities and colleges, including Berklee College of Music, Temple University, and Mansfield University have done internships at Progressive.
The level of quality that has been captured at Progressive - in the equipment, with the staff, and through the sonic ambiance of the space - as well as the excellence of instruction for student interns, easily makes it one of the best places to record in central PA.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, hundreds sang along with the State College-based band SouthPaw in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Immersed Academy Recordings are underway at Progressive Studios.
First Week in the Studio Is a Big Success
Two bands initiated a new era in Immersed In Music as we started recording at Progressive Studios, which is located just outside of Hershey. They had a great week of laying down basic tracks for the songs they each will be placing on the IIM 2018-19 compilation CD.
PurpleGreenEctoplasmDucksFromMars and The Breads took turns recording drums Monday and Tuesday this week, then moved on to bass guitar to complete the rhythm tracks for each of their songs. The Breads will return to the studio on Saturday to work on keyboards, guitars and vocals, as they are ready.
Progressive Studios offers an opportunity for all the students to experience a whole new level of professionalism, working with recording engineer Jay Kirssin. Band members got to spread out and experience the challenges and rewards of working in a larger environment. Sound and Studio Engineering students got "hands on experience" working with Jay, and really had fun applying their classroom work to real time learning.
We can't wait to hear the amazing results of their time in the studio and are so excited for the other bands to get their time to shine in this incredible facility.
