This bookcase was given to me. I love the shape of it and want to paint it to use as a display in my booth space. The kicker is, it’s not a solid wood piece and has a slick surface with a nail on backing. No worries! Spring is my favorite season to create

Here comes Peter Cottontail! These frames are the ideal size for the new Dixie Belle Traditional Peter Rabbit A3 Rice Decoupage Paper. To decoupage the images, I painted the insert in the frame white and used Dixie Belle Clear Coat - Satin to apply the paper. I also applied a couple of coats of the clear coat to the front of the image. The frames were primed with Dixie Belle Bonding Boss and painted with Dixie Belle Weeping Willow and Cottage Door Chalk Mineral Paints and embellished with Dixie Belle Gold Gilding Wax.

Here is my finished project using the new Redesign with Prima Springtime Bunny mould. I had 3 wood house cutouts and glued them together. I mixed Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paints Flamingo and Cotton to create a coral color for the base and I used Redesign with Prima Eastern Fountain Stick & Style Stencil to embellish the houses. I attached the resin moulds with Tite Bond Quick & Thick Glue and sprayed the entire piece with Krylon Matte Spray.

Hello, my name is Kimberly Wallace. I’m the owner and creative at The Chalked Trunk. I have always been a crafter and DIY enthusiast. I like to attend Vintage Markets and I like to decorate by upcycling and repurposing, mixing old with new. Above all, I LOVE painting furniture! I started by finding and painting pieces for my own home because I could never find what I liked in retail stores. Not to mention, the prices were over the top! There is so much character and durability in a vintage piece of furniture, and finding outdated, solid wood pieces to paint is just a bigger palette for me to create something beautiful. As I continue to follow my passion, I am inspired by new painting techniques and color choices. There is so much satisfaction knowing that each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation!
