When I was young man growing up in rough and tumble Bayonne, NJ, we engaged in this tradition with great zeal.
-
They call it cabbage night in my current home county of Bergen.
-..throwing raw eggs at each other and various objects.
-
We whacked each other with long, flour-filled socks..
-..decorated the trees with toilet paper.
-..and sprayed shaving cream on each other and various objects.
-
Had no idea that this was almost strictly a Jersey thing with the exception of a fairly similar tradition somewhere in Michigan.
-..in Bayonne, you had to avoid egging cars owned by certain people, or you would get your ass kicked, or worst, wind up on a milk carton.
-
It was vandalism, but it was fun...and it occurred on a widespread basis. as evidenced by the condition of the city on the morning of October 31st.

My youth was both fun-filled and challenging...some good memories.😎
