The Shift with Doug McKenty

The Shift with Doug McKenty The Shift offers an alternative to the mainstream media. Armed only with cameras and open minds, they began the paradigm busting saga of making The Shift.

We are an alternative media site dedicated to the discovery of Truth over fiction that invites all participants to inject their own perspective as well as gather information pertinent to existence in the modern day. "People that watch the mainstream media know less about the world than people who don't watch it at all." - Jeff Blankfort

The Shift is a new paradigm busting alternative medi

a production project dedicated to telling real stories that are not covered by the mainstream media. Follow Doug and Todd as they go into the world asking the question, "What is really going on?" With an interactive, multimedia approach to journalism we intend to find an answer to that question that spans beyond the left-right paradigm and covers issues from all over the spectrum, that are important to all of our daily lives. From politics and economics to science and spirituality, the Shift team will be there documenting in depth the real stories that matter. The Shift will create an interactive blog-a-sphere allowing participation from our members on theshiftnow.com where we will publish weekly episodes comprised of hour long interviews with special guests as well as updates from our regular correspondents who come to The Shift with a wide range of expertise on a verity of subjects. Jeff Blankfort of KZYX's "Takes on the World" has been covering the politics of the Middle East for over four decades and is an expert on Israeli and Palestinian issues. Abby Martin of RT and Media Roots (mediaroots.org) joins us from Washington DC to discuss national news. Cathrine Austin-Fitts, creator of The Solari Report (solari.com), has agreed to be our economic adviser and Christina Anestead covers environmental and indigenous issues. The Shift began when award wining producer, editor and cinematographer Todd Cinnamon joined forces with popular local public radio talk show host Doug McKenty. They quickly realized with there combined expertise it was time to create a new, internet based form of journalism that moves away from the typical sound byte media so prevalent in the mainstream and starts to delve into the real heart that lies at the center of all good stories. Using a long interview format and in depth coverage, Doug and Todd seek not only to cover the problems in the world but to really focus on solutions. Concurrent with the weekly interview The Shift team will also produce twelve one to one and a half hour exclusive monthly episodic documentaries chronicling The Shift on location available to theshiftnow.com premium members. These will have a high production value focusing on specific issues and individuals we encounter along the way. Our goal is to spend the year acquiring footage, developing and producing stories to amass in one full-length feature documentary which will tell the larger story of The Shift from its beginning to the completion of the first year and the world-view we will develop along the way. The Shift has already been working the beat, acquiring full length interviews with Abby, Jeff, and Kimberly and Foster Gamble, producers of the documentary Thrive (thrivemovement.com) We have also covered the Wimmem Wintu tribe as they fight the US Forest Service over their right to perform ceremony at their ancestral home on the banks of Lake Shasta in Northern California.
