📍Timbers at Arbor Day Farm has officially entered its peak summer menu era, and we got a first taste.

Our Editor Kathy joined a special wine pairing dinner last week featuring dishes designed by Chef Garrett Kasper, each paired with elegant wines selected by Sommelier & Beverage Manager Sara Wiebold (check out our feature on Sara from Dine last year!).

On the menu?

🍅 A tomato + watermelon starter with crisp Riesling
🦞 Lobster roll duo + a refreshing Napa Sauvignon Blanc
🐚 Scallops with couscous, corn, squash + French Aligote
🥩 Nebraska braised short rib + a bold Mountain Cuvee red blend
🎂 A birthday cake finale with macaroons and a mini vanilla milkshake + a sweet Bordeaux Sauternes

At age three, Oliver Thoene was diagnosed with Batten disease — a rare and fatal genetic condition that prevents the body from clearing waste from cells. This buildup affects the brain, eyes, and heart, leading to the gradual loss of motor skills, vision, and more.

Only around 14,000 children worldwide have been diagnosed with Batten disease.

To raise awareness, Oliver’s mother, Stacy Thoene, is courageously sharing their story. We’re honored to help amplify their voice and shine a light on this rare condition.

Passion Spotlight: supporting student wellness across Nebraska

In 2024, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska launched the Healthy Home Team, a multi-year initiative helping high schools promote student wellness.

This program focuses on creating calming spaces, growing school gardens, and improving access to personal hygiene items—real, everyday tools for better well-being.

📚 In its first year, the initiative awarded:

➡️ $500 grants to 100 high schools

➡️ A $5,000 grant to one standout school
