The Elkhorn Independent was established in 1853. It was then that Edgar J. Farnum, from a farm in the Town of Geneva, put out the first Independent. The first paper published in Elkhorn, and in the county was the Western Star, first issue Aug. 8, 1845; edited by George Gale and Francis Utter. The Western Star was absorbed by the Independent, and the paper was at one time known as the Walworth County Independent. Now the Independent is owned by Southern Lakes Newspapers.

LLYC has over 200 members from the Lauderdale Lakes area. We have many great activities such as the Cocktails with the Commodore, Pig Roast, Golf Outing, 4th of July fireworks, and other social events around the lake. Parent organization for the Lauderdale Lakes Sailing with several weekend races.

🪻⚘️🌸Happy Administrative Professionals Day to the heart of this department, Theresa Boeger! Theresa comes to work each and every day (sometimes even earlier than her scheduled shift) and truly makes sure this place runs smoothly. She works harder than anyone and does so effortlessly. She catches mistakes that need to be fixed, she spends hours editing body camera video and redacting reports, she makes sure all files and paperwork get where they need to go, she answers the phone and walk in inquiries, she assists with the hiring process, police and fire commission meetings, signing everyone up for training and logging all training hours-bascially if you name it, she knows how to do it! She knows the answer to everything! She is one person doing the work of many. She is AMAZING and could never be replaced (so don't even think about retiring anytime soon!) We are so lucky to have this lady running our show! Theresa you deserve the best today and everyday! Thank you a million times for all you do! 🌸⚘️🪻
