We had breakfast at IHOP this morning. I had a Belgian waffle with butter, butter pecan and then strawberry syrup. It was a delight to my eyes, desirable and very tasteful going down.

After we finished, paid and got into the car, my stomach began to acknowledge that the delight was not agreeable with it. Drinking my coveted cranberry juice was not helping. Therefore, I reached for what I knew would resolve the sin of gluttony...Tums.

This reminded me of how the lust and desire for what we see as fun or pleasurable has a season and consequences. So, if you find yourself in this sinful predicament, reach for the only cure that will resolve your sin...Jesus Christ.

"Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." James 1:5 KJV

Memorial Day Remembrance from five years ago (an entry from the book, Afghanistan: 179 Days of Teachable Moments).

28 May ~ “Don’t Remember Me Next Year”
During our morning briefing, the Commander mentioned that Memorial Day is to remember the fallen soldiers who died in support of our country’s freedom. He said, “I don’t want to remember any of you next year.” His point was for us to be safe and continue to be vigilant to ensure a safe return home.
War is inevitable so long as we live on this Earth. With war, there are always casualties on either side. As we honor our fallen soldiers, I’m reminded of my monthly church publication, The Happy News. The May monthly edition each year is filled with pictures of church members; not fallen, but elevated to the next level toward heaven to forever be with our loving God and Son Jesus Christ.

What a gathering that will be—all of God’s children together at our new home to forever worship and praise God for being God of all the universe!

I remember with admiration, reverence and respect, the saints who have gone on before us, for their lives meant so much to those of us they left behind. As godly examples and encouragers in the faith, their death is priceless.
As good soldiers, the saints have been faithful until death and will receive the crown of life. (Revelations 2:10.)

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22).

Teachable Moment: 5-14-2017: "Protective Brothers"
I want to give my daughters and son-in-loves recognition for the great job they are doing in raising their sons. Over the past 3 years, I’ve watched my grandsons, Isaiah, Titus and Jayson’s interactions with their sister, Lauren and London (respectively). They spoil them, love on them, cater to them, and protect them.

I am amazed and grateful that their experiences and actions will make them strong, protective, and loving husbands and fathers. Great job Calvin, Florencia, James & Faythe!

Motherly advice: fathers, please recognize the importance of training your boys to respect, love and protect their sisters; in doing so, they’ll grow up to do the same for their wives and daughters.
