Sharing Culture, Healing, and Joy Across North Dakota
A FREE SUMMER CONCERT AT SOUTH PARK
FRIDAY, AUGUST 28 AT 6:00

Marina (San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua) and Néstor (Tepatepec, Hidalgo) share Tarahumara and Otomí traditions through folklore dance that heals, connects, and brings people together. Since beginning their work in Minot in 2013, they have traveled North Dakota offering performances that celebrate culture, creativity, and well-being. Join them for an evening of movement and joy—one dance and one shared smile at a time.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Active Shooter Full-Scale Exercise -THURSDAY AUGUST 20

– Ellendale Public SchoolThe North Dakota Safety Council would like to inform residents of Ellendale that a full-scale Active Shooter Exercise will be conducted at Ellendale Public School on Thursday, August 20, 2026.Beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., residents can expect to see numerous law enforcement, fire, and EMS vehicles responding throughout the community.

An Air Life helicopter will also be participating in the exercise. Emergency vehicles will be traveling to and from the school with lights and sirens activated at various times during the exercise.The training is expected to continue until approximately 3:00 p.m.

This is only a training exercise. There is no threat to the public. The exercise is designed to provide first responders with realistic training to enhance coordination, communication, and emergency response capabilities.Residents are encouraged to avoid the immediate area of Ellendale Public School during the exercise to help ensure the safety and effectiveness of the training.

Come on down to the Opera House Thursday evening and learn about an important scientific chapter in Ellendale's history! It's a cool place and a cool topic!

Even if you know about the Kite and Balloon Weather Station, you will see and hear things you never knew. Our special guest, Dorothy Pederson from Oregon, will share photos and information that have never before been public. Dorothy's father Clark Fuller, worked at the station for many years and kept a diary and many photos.

7:00 illustrated talk by Ken Smith, with Q& A
