Our community Cinco de Mayo celebration was a great success. In a change to our past pot-luck routine, the Board chose to cater the main course, and purchased food and drink serving items that we can use to support future events. After forcing us to delay, the weather cooperated, and we had great food and fellowship. Many thanks to Tony and Bev Watzke for their work to organize and set up, to Ron and Donna Thompson and Ron Frost for their support, and to all who contributed desserts to complete the meal. Special thanks to Gene and Sue DeMauro for the use of their pavilion and to Jim Axlerod for helping us get it ready. Finally, thanks to everyone who came out to join us. We look forward to seeing everyone again later this year.

From Mike King:

Cartecay River Estates Just passing this along to my neighbors. This morning Monday 4/10/25 at 8 a.m. this morning I heard several coyotes near Hwy 52 bridge and the river while I was in the backyard with my dogs. I walked up onto my porch and witnessed 2 coyotes running across the middle of the pasture in the direction towards the tree line towards the upper section of our subdivision and Roy Rd. Just FYI they will and do jump fences and try to get your pets. Stay strapped if you walk your dogs and several of us do and keep your head on a swivel!

Saturday morning road update: we received another inch of ice/sleet/snow overnight. We have once again cleared the road surface on the hill leading to the lower level of the subdivision.

The hill should be passable to most vehicles at this time, but please exercise caution, as some patches of ice remain on the road surface.

01/10/2025

As of 3:00 p.m., the hill has been cleared, along with the rest of the roads in the subdivision. They are just wet at this time, but will likely re-freeze as temperatures drop later in the day.

Please exercise caution if you must venture out.

Residents and guests should be advised that the hill leading to the lower end of the subdivision is EXTREMELY TREACHEROUS!

We tried to plow the snow off this morning, but the conditions are too dangerous even for the tractor with 4-wheel drive.

We STRONGLY recommend that no one attempt to traverse the hill until the conditions improve sufficiently for us to better clear the road surface.

From Laura Cunningham:

Hi neighbors, I live at 312 Cartecay River Run. At approximately 12:40 this morning (12/29/2024), I heard someone walk on my deck from the front of my house to the back. They had to climb over a gate in order to access the back deck. They tried shining a flashlight in my windows and attempted to open the back door of my garage. The sheriff was called and they had 2 cruisers in the neighborhood within about 15-20 minutes. The officers looked around here and surrounding houses and drove through the neighborhood. They did not find anyone. Unfortunately I forgot to turn on my security cameras last night before going to bed so I did not get any video. Let me know if you have questions, 865-216-6211. ~ Laura
