Stephan Ware, an English physician, now in retirement has become of one of World’s finest recreations of actual orchestral backgrounds thru the use of midi-equipment.
He first learns the piece via obtaining a solo performance by one of the world’s best soloist, conductor and orchestra. He then obtains the original score and commences to construct the piece using the most advanced orchestral samples now known and available for such work.
He works with the soloist, in this case, Fred Moyer, to obtain a solo performance of the piece the Rachmaninov Second Piano Concerto. He then builds the orchestral part around the solo performance, over the following weeks and months, with each participant, providing tempo corrections and other subtle factors until a completed work is arrived at that satisfies both participants to the endeavor. Then and only then was the work released to Music Minus One for pressing and ultimate distribution around the world. This new recording, replaced an earlier version created in 1960, some sixty five years ago, which has sold in the tens of thousands. It was flawed however having been produced without the concurrent participation of an actual pianist. It is this attention to detail that is a hallmark of Music Minus One, in its constant seeking after perfection in its releases.
