As families across Cleveland feel the mounting pressure from the ongoing federal government shutdown and the recent cuts to SNAP benefits, Mayor Bibb, in partnership with the Department of Public Utilities, today announced a 30-day moratorium on utility disconnections for nonpayment.

Effective Friday, November 7, 2025, customers of Cleveland Water and Cleveland Public Power will not face service interruptions due to unpaid bills during this period. Account balances will continue to accrue, but the City is taking this step to ensure residents maintain access to essential services during a period of heightened financial insecurity.

Shoutout to this amazing group of men who balled out in the very first Crossover 4 A Breakthrough Charity Basketball Game. Men of all ages came together for a powerful cause. Together, we stood strong to support Power 4 Pink and Lorain County families impacted by breast cancer. Thank you for playing with purpose and making every bucket count.

We all know Ohio winters can be brutally cold, that’s why The Elite Shot is hosting our first “We Assist: Sock Drive.”

Socks are at the top of every homeless shelter’s need list. We’re collecting new socks in original packaging in all sizes—kids and adults. Socks can keep your feet warm and even double as gloves when needed. Every pair collected will be donated to local homeless shelters to help families stay warm this season.

We’re also looking for a few more drop locations, so if you’re a business owner who wants to support, contact Malissa Gettis at 440-452-4156.

You can drop off a pair today at one of our current locations:

Studio 828 Salon and Spa

The E Barbershop

With the government shutdown and so many families struggling, even a small gesture like a pair of socks can make a huge difference. Let’s come together and show what community looks like.

Event Recap from Kaniesha Vines-Robinson:
The purpose behind the Crossover 4 A Breakthrough Charity Basketball Game was deeper than basketball. This event was all about promoting awareness, encouraging early detection, and reminding our community about the importance of going to the doctor. The energy was unmatched, the message was powerful, and every person in the building helped push the mission forward—health is wealth, and prevention saves lives.

The first Crossover 4 A Breakthrough Charity Basketball Game is officially in the books. It was heartwarming to see players unite for such a powerful cause. Cancer has touched us all in some way, and this event was deeply personal for my family and The Elite Shot team. We honored our loved ones, including my aunt Carla Gettis who passed last July, by wearing shirts and hoodies with their names on the back.

The gym was electric from start to finish, filled with dunks, no-look passes, and nonstop energy. Big C’s Crew found their rhythm in the second half, pulling away to take the win over The Elite Shot.

Each player had the chance to raise funds for Power 4 Pink Inc through sponsorships for points, assists, and blocks. Shoutout to Jessica Newton for sponsoring Brady Newton, who went off for 23 points, four dunks, and two threes.

Donations can be sent via Cash App $stephengettis, Venmo -gettis, or Zelle Stephen Gettis. Thank you to everyone who supported this event—we can’t wait to see you at the next one.
